Tatsujin Rules! And these are the rules
So Brent's last fight, he had his pro debut under the Tatsujin ruleset. What is allowed? - Punches, including hammer fists, - kicks, - knees - clinching for 10 seconds - kubi sumo including throws - ground and pound for 10 seconds What isn't allowed? - elbows - soccer kicks - shooting for takedowns - stomping a downed opponent This way Tatsujin is a bit closer to real street fighting than pure kickboxing. It adds in grappling in an appropriate amount, because in combat sports it's easy to lose sight on what works on the concrete and have one aspect of the puzzle dominate because of the ruleset. Think of it this way: - You wouldn't take an attacker down if there's a second one ready to stomp your head. - You wouldn't get up close against a stronger or armed opponent. So you shouldn't only rely on grappling arts for martial arts. And you should incorporate striking in your grappling.
