A reminder I keep coming back to: When things feel overwhelming, the body needs safety before solutions. Sometimes that looks like breathing, feeling your feet, or setting one thing down, not figuring everything out. Sharing in case this lands for someone today. 🤍

Today is both and
Today was heavy. Our church is one block from where Renee Good was killed. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying the doors would be locked 15 minutes after the service started - for safety. Not to keep anyone out - and yet to provide protection for anyone who needed it. The sanctuary was packed. And I was overwhelmed. There was anger. There was sadness. There were tears. And there was also something else. Community. People showing up anyway. People sitting shoulder to shoulder in grief and love and faith. People reaching to and praising God. What happened is not okay. And at the same time, love was present. God was present. We were present with one another. Both can be true. If you’re carrying heavy emotions today - anger, fear, heartbreak, exhaustion - you’re not wrong or alone for feeling them. And if you’re also finding small glimpses of connection, warmth, or hope, you’re not betraying the grief. This community exists for moments like this. To hold each other. To tell the truth. To choose love without denying pain. Sending love to anyone who needs it today. 💛 And perhaps asking for some myself. If you’re willing, drop a heart, a word, or a prayer below. We’re in this together. Joy is still available. Even here.
