At 51, I Left my 23-Year Stable Corporate Career to Make 'Goofy Videos.' Five Months Later, I've Made $117,394.
Hey I'm Jared Brubaker, I'm one of the UGC coaches that paid $1,000 to newer creators for their first ever paid brand deal this past week in the 2026 sprint. I've got a lot of UGC Creators asking my story and background and I've never shared this publicly before, so here it is: My closest friend told me to 'get a grip on my life' when I left my 23-year corporate career to make videos on my phone. Five months and $117,394 later, he's asking me how to get started. before I found out about UGC, I led a 400-person corporate recruiting company for 23 years. On paper, I was successful. Six-figure salary. International business. Respect. Status. I had the whole thing on the outside. On the inside? I was at war with myself. I hated my job. I hated myself. I felt stuck in this loop where every day looked exactly the same and I couldn't see a way out. I had this gut feeling that there was more to life than boardrooms and quarterly reports and managing people who didn't want to be managed. But I kept going. Because that's what you do, right? You’re a “man”, you have a family to care for, you have responsibilities. You have a reputation. You don't just walk away from 23 years of financial stability just because you're "unhappy." So I buried it. For years. For years I silenced that inner voice and told myself to man up and toughen it out. But it was this one moment when everything changed for me. I was in Barcelona with my son. He was playing soccer, and I had way too much time on my hands. I was scrolling through TikTok one day and saw a post about brands desperately needing older Gen X creators. And I thought, "Why not me?" I'd been an actor in my previous life, a long time ago when I was younger. I was always comfortable in front of the camera. So I figured I'd give it a shot. Just to fill some time while I was out there in Barcelona. I always wanted to have fun creating content. I did five or six projects before I flew back to Salt Lake. And something clicked.

EEEEEKKK!!! It's here! Learn to get paid to travel!!! 🌎✈️
Last month I hosted a LIVE IN PERSON event where I taught my top 3 strategies to get PAID TO TRAVEL as a UGC creator and y'all have been blowing up my DMs asking for the replay ever since haha!!! So I posted a snippet on my YouTube and you need to watch it NOW! 🎉 In this video I cover… - How I get paid to travel the world even in countries where brands can't ship to me like Bali, Thailand, Vietnam and more! - My top 3 strategies to land travel collabs on your next trip! - How to build a full UGC business around travel even on a budget! AND SO MUCH MORE!!! 🤩 But here's the part that genuinely gave me chills… students have ALREADY been taking action and 2 of them just reported back that they got paid to travel for the very first time using the notes they took from the event. IT. WORKS. Y'ALL. Take notes!!! That dream trip you wanna go on this summer?? Get PAID to do it!!!! 👇 Watch my speech here and go get PAID TO TRAVEL! 👇 https://youtu.be/NWYY5Px73CA

Take away: You don’t have to be perfect and anyone willing to get out there to do the work can do this. Here’s my 1st UGC video. I’m so proud of myself for doing it. I think my music is still too loud though I turned it really low. I had trouble trying to go back to adjust it again. I’ll have to keep working on trying to do it, and my hands were moving too much, rubbing my face too much. I said “Uhm”. I was trying now to do that too much, and I looked away from the camera too much but I was trying not to look like a deer in headlights. 😆 Please, give me feedback. One last thing about it, can someone tell me why my 1:43 minutes video still has the audio going after the video finished, making it a 3:22 minute video? How do I fix that? Also, just to be clear, do we need to post this video on our Instagram before or after the Day 1 complete photo? If not, should we anyway? @Gloria Stonelake

@Angelia Merritt I wondered the same thing but I did it anyway since it was step 1 in her instructions. Thinking again about it, it may be best to book after completing the course so that you can ask any questions after experiencing it.

Check My Portfolio - https://rn51.my.canva.site/ My old $1000 Coach just texted me again, your content is bad, that's why you're still at 0$ for 4months. I do not know what crazy improvement will help me get out of this prison. I just don't know @Gloria Stonelake , sis. I am not saying I am making the best content possible, but I do not think just improving the content a little bit will change everything. He told me that sending so many pitches every day is just "throwing mud at the wall, and hoping something will stick by luck." I am not confusing myself for sending fewer or more pitches; I already sent 95 pitches today (3 PM London TIME). But I really want to know, is my content really super bad? I am literally trying to do everything in my power, putting as much time and effort as possible. I am literally trying to do everything in my power, putting as much time and effort as possible. I don't know what it is I'm doing wrong. I literally wanted to cry, to be honest. I am not even joking. Like, you are trying so hard. And still don't know whether anything is even possible or not. I started UGC last December. I never wanted to be some millionaire from this thing. It was just that I wanted to do UGC so that I can get some cash, which I am going to use for my YouTube dream, more like getting funds for your business. I'm literally trying my best, but I still haven't seen any progress yet. I know it will take time but but I want to know, is my content good or bad? ARE brands are not responding to my messages just because my content is really, really bad ? I know when I wrote another coach, many people won't even want to reply to this post because I wasted money somewhere and asking for help here, what would you do if you were in my shoes? I am sorry for asking here.

Well, I'm new to this. I literally just started a day ago, but your content looks great, your energy and ideas seem great. Have you tried constantly contacting the brands that you pitched to? I've heard people say that you have to stay on them about trying to work with them and not stop because they are quickly and easily onto the next thing or have multiple tasks to complete and forget about people. So, I suppose keep hounding them about your pitch and that you want to work with them. Even if you've sent 95 pitches, are they the same brands or are they 95 different brands?
