Many still observe Sunday as a day of rest. Some think of it as "just another day." But for me, it has long been my secret weapon, the secret for my success because on Sunday, I prepare! - On Sunday, I review my weekly calendar. - On Sunday, I not only come up with my "To Do List" for the week, but I schedule in when I am going to do each task during the week (guaranteed way to keep the list realistic). - On Sunday, I fine tune presentations or create them (whichever applies). And on Sunday nights, I get the BEST sleep ever, knowing that the stress during the week has been reduced with my planning. As I have long said, success is only a surprise to the people watching. For the successful, their success is a result on longterm planning, executing, reviewing and revising. For an entire year (and probably longer), I wrote a blog post each day that began with that phrase reminding me: I am awake - awake to all the opportunities this day brings, awake to all the challenges that will allow me to flex and build my muscles, awake to all the gifts and blessings this day brings and I am alive - meaning I still have power. I can make decisions. I can take action. I can do everything an intelligent adult can do. I still have time. I am not done yet. And ... the "and" was always specific to the day. Today, my "and" is that I am tired. Not my favourite state to experience (actually, my least favourite) but nevertheless, I can be productive. Tired is a perfect day for monotonous tasks. Tired is a perfect day for another 100 emails to go out advertising my free course. Tired is a great day to write emails. Tired is still awake and alive. So my friend, I pray you realize today YOU are awake and YOU are alive and you too get to decide what your "and" is ... I love you! I am awake, I am alive, and this morning, I AM PUMPED because soon I will be heading to yet another First Nation (Indigenous) community that needs my help. Like any other marginalized community, the three natural human reactions to oppression are obvious here - violence (in all its forms), acquiescence and non-violent resistance and non-violent resistance IS MYJAM! Together, we will REFUSE to be the stereotype. Together, we will HEAL. Together, we will LAUGH. Together, we wilL LEARN. And I cannot wait to assist yet another community be all it desires to be for its current members and for future generations. The journey begins in a few hours! YAY! Crush your week, everyone!
