Something I’ve noticed after looking at a lot of grant applications is that the strongest ones aren’t just written well they’re prepared well. People who win more often usually have: - a clear description of their business or nonprofit - a short impact statement - basic numbers ready (revenue, budget, people served, etc.) - and one or two success stories they can reuse That way, when a new grant opens up, they’re not starting from zero. They’re just adapting what already exists. Even spending one hour creating a simple “grant-ready” doc with these basics can save you days later and help you submit more applications with less stress. Most missed opportunities don’t come from bad writing they come from not being ready in time. After speaking with so many of you, before we start aggressively searching for grants, we need to focus on something far more important—building your business systems and infrastructure so you become the kind of company that attracts grants effortlessly. This year, our priority is structure before submission. We are no longer putting time, energy, and hope into grant applications that are likely to be declined because the foundation isn’t solid yet. And yes—I’m practicing what I preach. I’ve restructured our company as well. I’m putting the systems in place so that we can win more grants, consistently and strategically.
