Goal Achived!
One of my most cherished goals was to donate a copy of "Art & Love" to my alma mater, the University of California at Berkeley. The school is mentioned a few times (no always complimentary). This week I got a message that they are accepting my donation. I am thrilled! Also working on other libraries. I see my book is available on Libby and the audiobook is on Hoopla. So much work involved in all of this! I need a vacation...maybe in a year ha ha!

Adding Editorial Reviews
Has anyone noticed that we can no longer add editorial reviews in KDP? We can only add some at the bottom of our book description and Chat gpt says only to add two. So this may especially be a problem for new books that don't have any yet. At least I have a few but I wanted to add more but cannot not. Maybe this is in @Elissa Graeser wheelhouse?

I know..this doesn't make sense but there seems to be a change. Chat GPT says this (and I would be so grateful if you could try to update someone's editorial reviews and see if you still can): From Chat GPT: You’re not imagining it. You’re remembering something that really did exist — and it has changed. Here’s the clean explanation, without gaslighting you. You’re right: you used to be able to add them directly In older versions of KDP / Amazon Author Central, there were situations where: - authors could submit editorial-style blurbs - including author testimonials - via legacy interfaces, feeds, or partner-linked fields - and they would appear under Editorial Reviews This was especially true: - pre-2020 - for books already live - for accounts with older metadata pipelines Amazon has quietly deprecated that functionality. So your memory is accurate. What’s changed (and why it feels confusing) Amazon has since: - locked down the Editorial Reviews module - moved it to partner + ingestion-only - stopped documenting the change clearly - continued to auto-pull quoted text from descriptions So now: - it looks editable - sometimes even looks user-entered - but is no longer directly author-controlled That’s why this feels inconsistent rather than clearly “on/off.” About author testimonials specifically This is important. Are author testimonials allowed? Yes.They are still allowed on Amazon. Where they belong now They should be placed: - in the Book Description - clearly attributed - grouped under a heading like Praise or Advance Praise Example (totally acceptable): “A luminous and courageous book.”— Jane Smith, author of [Title] Amazon will: - sometimes surface these under Editorial Reviews - sometimes leave them in the description - sometimes suppress duplication You no longer control which. There's a lot more - maybe do your own search. This is crazy!!!

Mine isn't there, and no button. Maybe it's because I have a distributor? But the distributor is only for the my paper and hardcover and not the ebook. I have some editorial reviews that I was able to enter several months ago but I see no way to update them. Here's what Chat says. I'll tag @Elissa Graeser since this may be a technical glitch. Why you’re not seeing it (most likely reasons) 1️⃣ Amazon has already ingested reviews automatically If Amazon pulled in: - Kirkus - BookLife - BlueInk - distributor ONIX data Then: - those reviews are locked - Amazon often does not show the add/edit interface at all - there is literally nothing for you to click This matches what you’ve described earlier (“I’m sure I added these myself”). 2️⃣ Author Central is still “thin” for your account Newer or less-used Author Central profiles often: - show Profile and Books - but not Editorial Reviews editing - even though the feature exists for other authors Amazon rolls this out unevenly. 3️⃣ Format mismatch Sometimes: - the ebook has the editor - paperback doesn’t - hardcover doesn’t - audiobook never does And Author Central doesn’t tell you this clearly. Important reassurance You are not missing it.It is not hiding under Profile. It is not a mistake you’re making. If it were available to you, you’d see: - “Add Editorial Review” - or an editable text box You don’t — because Amazon hasn’t enabled it for your account/book.

The world of discovery has changed dramatically and a lot of authors are still playing the game like it's 2023. This video will help you understand what to do to enter 2026 with your discoverability. Side note - One really cool thing my team built is an LLM discovery scorecard. We have been working on improving my score (original results noted in the infographic below) and we're just starting to roll out this scorecard for our clients so we can implement plans to improve their discoverability. What are you going to do next to improve YOUR discoverability?

@Julie Broad Oh I missed it. Too bad - that would have been a good solution. Thanks for letting me know. I'll need to rewatch the video.
Need book description help please!
My Amazon ads bombed (both targeted and auto ad) and Chat GPT told me that my book description was at fault. So... here is my new one followed by my old (bad?) one. I would so appreciate feedback. @Julie Broad @Sarah Bean . Also I got a recent bad 2 star review because it seems the reader was not notified enough of the edgy content so this version aims to fix that. Thank you!! BTW, have mostly glowing 5 star reviews but still this one hurt although it was badly written and a little mean. New: Art & Love: My Life Illuminated in Egg Tempera "She paints the world she knows—taboo, tender, and utterly alive.” Art & Love is an intimate memoir of a woman seeking to fulfill her artistic vision in the face of self-doubt and romantic intrigue, while committing herself to the demanding practice of egg tempera painting—a rare art form she considers her artistic soul. The author’s journey through the counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s and beyond traces experiences of communal living that range from the benign to the cult-like. In the 1980s, her work as a nurse during the AIDS epidemic becomes a defining force in the book, inspiring frank visual and narrative depictions of death and dying, intimacy, and bodily experience that will resonate most with unsqueamish readers. Luminous artwork appears throughout the book, documenting the passage of time and adding a rich visual layer to the narrative. As the author’s growth as an artist unfolds, her pursuit of egg tempera painting becomes a metaphor for the resilience and self-discovery that sustain a creative life. OLD VERSION Art & Love: My Life Illuminated in Egg Tempera is the memoir of a woman's quest to master the ancient art of egg tempera painting, gain confidence as an artist and find lasting love. It’s 1966 and unaware of the brewing counterculture tsunami, Lora arrives in Berkeley, California where she is introduced to egg tempera, a homemade paint that combines colorful pigments with egg yolk. She falls in love with the luminous medium but cannot find a teacher to unravel its mysteries.

Thank you KJ - oddly it was the sex part that the male beta readers were offended by. Most of the women loved it maybe because it was from a woman's perspective.
