WHAT'S THE BEST NEW PLUGIN YOU FOUND RECENTLY? 🧑🏼‍💻
As we approach Black Friday, let's make a list of all of the best new plugins to keep an eye out for. I'm a huge fan of the Cradle Audio plugins because of The God Particle (has been almost the only thing on my master channel for about 2 years now). It's the ultimate master bus sound-gooderizer in my opinion. A black box that does SOMETHING amazing that I'm not able to vocalise further than "it good. it very good". I'm SO stoked about their new drum focused plugin called Orion that is exactly the same level of magic as The God Particle is for mastering but for drum busses. I absolutely love a plugin that removes the need for me to over intellectualize a process. Slap it on - tweak some knobs - BOOM. All of their plugins are just GOLD! Highly highly recommend. What's the best plugin you've found recently?

@Henrique Wenz I love OPAL! Haven't tried anything else from them but have been eyeing Chiral. I use OPAL for DFAM like drum sounds (tbh I just use the first sound module) and it sounds great and is super immediate

@Tom Gatley 12 is definitely worth the upgrade now, esp with 12.1, I was holding off myself but I’ve been very impressed
A.I. SAMPLING MASTERCLASS
For those of you that know what I’ve been doing with A.I. and music, you’ll understand how mind blowing this masterclass is going to be. For those that don’t, let’s just say you have no idea what you’re in for. Click here to learn more about how you can leverage the power of A.I. to supercharge your music production. This one is going to be absolutely crazy 🤯 P.S. How do you feel about the future of music with the advent of A.I. technologies?

@Cooper Deats the thing is, and let’s run with your microwave example here - the microwave is now an essential part of most kitchens, both personal and professional. It allows us to do something mundane quickly and easily so that we are able to focus on the more creative aspects of cooking. I am skeptical of course - but also open - that AI can provide a similar role in music.
Introducing serendipity into your workflow
Hi everyone, I wanted to open up a conversation about some production techniques that allow for “happy accidents.” I find this to be the most rewarding and just plain FUN part of producing, and I want to try to incorporate more of them into my workflow. I’ll start with something, although it’s quite basic: 1. I’ll take Sampler in Ableton, and load up a complex bass sound that has any kind of rhythm itself within the sample (it doesn’t have to be tempo synced to the grid at all) 2. In Sampler, create a loop point, then in the MIDI section you can assign the loop starting point to the mod wheel of your keyboard! 3. This means that now you can easily scroll through your sample and find interesting bits and rhythms that you likely would never have come up on your own. Simply play around with the sample on your keyboard until you find a section you like. Using the mod wheel for this is very fast and intuitive 4. You could do a similar thing with slices in Sampler, but I find that the above approach allows for more control and “weirdness” What kinds of techniques are you all using to introduce happy accidents? I’d love to hear them!

ARE YOU LIVING YOUR PURPOSE?
If YES, what is it? If NO, why not?

I’m on my way! Slowly bringing in more money from the music side of things and reducing the energy I’m putting towards my day job. I guess I just won’t ever feel like I’m living my purpose until I’m no longer working for someone else.

@Lex Christopherson that’s a great question. I actually think I just need ONE more major project / one additional moderate income stream to make it work. Right now all my eggs are in one basket I guess, and while that’s working now, I can’t count on it completely.
Anyone else into modular/semi-modular?
Hey fine folks of the Taches community. I've been frantic busy with some "life" stuff outside music lately, but decided to treat myself to my first piece of proper music hardware and picked up the behringer edge super cheap on a sale. I'm really enjoying the "dog a computer" phase of experimentation where I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing and just twiddling knobs and making patches until I find something I like the sound of. Played the core of this out live into bitwig then added some drums and a few fx, very very quick n dirty mix and master and here it is. https://soundcloud.com/screamish/edge-fragment-1

I tried to get into it and was sucked down a huge black hole of GAS and module optimization. It was more fun than productive (for me!), which is fine in of itself but I found the tradeoff too serious on both my time and money. I ended up selling everything, I just stick with standalone hardware synths now, lol. Love my Novation Peak! I already have an issue with plug-ins, so honestly I just think I have that kind of personality that doesn’t do well with these kind of things. 🤣
