Going through this training has been such a great experience, and it’s confirmed for me that recruiting is something I’m really excited about stepping into. For most of my life I’ve been in roles that involve working with people, whether in sales, leadership, or mentoring. What I’ve always loved most is helping people see what’s possible for themselves and encouraging them to take the next step toward the life or career they want. Recruiting feels like a natural extension of that. I’m especially excited to start having real conversations with candidates, learning their stories, and helping connect them with opportunities where they can grow and succeed. One strength I’m excited to lean into is my ability to build genuine relationships. I care about people and their goals, and I love helping them gain confidence in themselves and their next step. As I get started, my intention is to keep learning, stay curious, and continue improving every day. I’m really grateful for the training and the support from this community, and I’m excited to start putting it all into practice.

Preventing Flakes and Fall-Offs
Let me be the first to say, there are few things more embarrassing than a candidate going missing when there is an offer on the way - and few things more discouraging than when a candidate gets an offer and bails. How would you handle one of the example scenarios?

Scenario B: You’re a week out from their start date. You check in and they say, “Honestly, I’m getting nervous — I’ve never done upscale dining before.” Hey, I really appreciate you being honest with me about that. It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous stepping into something new, especially moving from fast casual into an upscale full-service concept. The reason the team at Trattoria Reggiano is excited about you isn’t because you’ve already done that exact environment, it’s because of your leadership style, your energy with people, and how you run a team. Those skills translate anywhere. They wouldn’t have extended the offer if they didn’t feel confident you could succeed there. And remember, you’re not expected to walk in day one knowing everything, they’ll train you on their systems and standards. Honestly, this is exactly the type of step that helps people grow their career. I really think once you get in there and start working with the team, you’re going to feel right at home.
The Offer Conversation
Write out what you would say to facilitate the offer conversation with Alex. Post in the thread below!

Hey Alex, I wanted to give you a quick call because I had a really positive conversation with the team at Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group after your final interview for the Assistant General Manager role at Trattoria Reggiano in Las Vegas. They had great things to say about you, they specifically loved your energy, your people skills, and the QSR leadership experience you bring. The interview went really well and they’re feeling confident about you for the role. Before they finalize anything, I just wanted to make sure we’re aligned. When we first spoke, you mentioned you were hoping to be around $70K. From my conversation with them, it sounds like the base they’re leaning toward is around $67K plus bonus, which would also be a nice step up from the $62K you’re currently making. How does that feel to you if that ends up being the offer? And assuming everything else looks good, would you feel comfortable moving forward with the opportunity at Trattoria Reggiano?
Final Rejection - Jamal

Hi Jamal, Thank you again for the time and effort you invested throughout the interview process. Completing three rounds speaks to the strength of your experience and the impression you made on the team. After careful consideration, the client has decided to move forward with another candidate for this particular role. I know this is never easy news to receive, especially after the time you put into the process. That said, the feedback on you was very positive. The decision ultimately came down to another candidate having slightly more direct multi-unit experience for this role. The team was genuinely impressed with your professionalism and leadership, and they would absolutely consider you for future opportunities. I truly appreciate the way you approached the process and the time you spent getting to know the team. I’d be glad to stay in touch and continue working with you on opportunities that align with your experience and career goals. Thank you again for your time, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to connect. Wishing you the very best moving forward. Best regards, Liz Leamon [email protected]
