Because hereโ€™s the truthโ€ฆ Youโ€™re listening. All day long. The quiet thoughts. The running commentary. The little things you say without even realizing it. And those words? They matter. When you say something out loudโ€” โ€œIโ€™ve got this.โ€ โ€œThis is going to be fun.โ€ โ€œI can figure this out.โ€ Your brain starts to believe you. Energy shifts. Posture changes. You show up differently. Itโ€™s not magic. Itโ€™s direction. Your words are constantly pointing your brain somewhere. So today, letโ€™s be intentional. Hereโ€™s something fascinating. In research described by Shawn Achor, participants who watched a short joyful video before completing a task performed better on tests and problem-solving challenges than those who didnโ€™t. Just a few minutes of positive emotion improved their thinking. Psychologists call this the Broaden-and-Build effect. When we feel joy: โ€ข our thinking expands โ€ข creativity increases โ€ข solutions become easier to see Joy literally improves brain performance. So - letโ€™s try a quick experiment today. Before your next task, meeting, or work block: Do one small thing that sparks joy. Music. A walk. A quick laugh. Gratitude. Then notice how your brain feels. Report back.
Your body was designed for joy. Performance is just the side effect.
