What are you actually trying to create?
In Lesson 3 we separated the method from the outcome. The rule tells you to do a specific thing. Underneath it is something you actually need, and there is almost always more than one way to get there. So I am curious about the second half of that sentence for you. Share one of these, or both: The rule tells me I have to ______________. The outcome I am actually trying to create is ______________. If you have already picked an alternative you want to try, tell us that too. Sometimes seeing someone else's option is what makes your own possible.

The rule tells me I have to post every day about health and fitness and know a pain point my niche audience has and how I help fix it. The outcome I am actually trying to create is getting clientswho want to take control of their overall health in a sustainable way. Three other ways I might create that outcome are 1. Teaching fitness and nutrition classes 2. Posting workout videos on YouTube and tell those who find them if they want more personalized workouts to help with a specific thing how to reach me. 3. Open my own yoga/tai chi studio
Yesterday, I asked what business rule you’re ready to question.
The next question is: What is that rule actually costing you? When I believed I had to stay consistently visible and palatable online, the cost wasn’t limited to the time it took to create content. I spent energy deciding what was safe to say. I edited myself before anyone else had the chance. I felt pressure to turn every difficult experience into something useful, inspiring, or acceptable. And I put energy into staying visible instead of building relationships in places that felt more like me. Some costs appear on our calendars. Others show up in our energy, creativity, relationships, self-trust, or willingness to keep going. A strategy isn’t free just because it doesn’t require money. Think about the rule you named, or one you’re beginning to notice: - What does following it cost you? - What result does it actually create? - If you were choosing freely today, would you agree to that exchange? You don’t need to change anything yet. Just tell yourself the truth about the cost. If you’d like to share: The cost of this rule that I hadn’t fully counted is __________.

The cost of this rule that I hadn’t fully counted is how draining it is to figure out what to post, what to say, and to say it. Even batch posting. The result it’s creating is not wanting to post at all. And many weeks I don't.
What if the business rule isn’t really about business?
I’ve been thinking about the business rules we follow because we believe we have to. For me, one of those rules was that I had to show up consistently on social media, play to the algorithms, and portray myself in a way that was always positive and palatable. Even when I shared a struggle, I thought I had to wrap it up with a positive lesson. But I’m realizing that the pressure to be palatable didn’t begin with social media. It’s a rule I’ve carried throughout much of my life. Business just gave that old rule a new justification. Now I’m experimenting with sharing when I genuinely want to share, keeping some things private, and building relationships in places that feel more like me. I feel better. I feel freer. Sometimes the business rules exhausting us are older life rules wearing professional clothes. What is one thing you believe you have to do to build your business—even though it doesn’t feel right or isn’t working? You don’t have to solve it today. Just name it. I’m also beginning to build a short, practical Classroom experience here in the Operations Room called Build It Your Way: A Breathing Room Reset. It will help you identify one business rule that is creating pressure, choose an alternative that fits you better, and test one small change in your business. This question is where we’re starting. If you respond below, you won’t just be joining the conversation, you’ll also be helping me shape this experience around what people are actually navigating.

For my business to be successful I have to always be healthy, workout, and post about it on social media at least 2 to 3 times a week. Daily gets better engagement. Wrong. I have done that, zero engagement fromsocial. Views yes, comments and DMs zero. Oh, you have to have a niche, a specific audience to talk to. Who do you help? Those that follow me range from 25 to 65🤷‍♀️. I jsut don't know anymore

Trying to determine if I should start a Skool community or figure out how to sell my workouts on other apps (I keep seeing ads on IG for this)
I made something for you!! 🩷
Okay, I’ve been building something, and I wanted you all to have it before I start sharing it more widely. 🙂 Some of you might remember the custom GPT I created that helped you sort through everything competing for your attention and figure out what to focus on next. I loved seeing how much clarity people got from that. But I wanted to make something even better. Something that was actually mine, that I could keep improving, and that people would actually USE. Because let’s be honest. I could have made you another PDF. And it would probably be sitting in your downloads folder with all the other PDFs we swear we’re going to go back and read someday. 😂 So instead, I built the 3-Item Focus Filter. You tell it what’s competing for your attention, how much capacity you actually have right now, and where you’re feeling stuck. It gives you three focus moves based on what you told it. My hope is that when your brain is trying to hold 47 things at once, this helps quiet some of that noise so you can breathe a little easier and know what to do next. And because you’re in the Operations Room, you get early access before I start sharing it elsewhere. 🤍 https://focus-clarity-flow.lovable.app Go play with it! And if you want to, come back and tell me what three moves it gave you. I’d love to hear what comes up.

This was helpful. I have a lot of projects going on right now and I was feeling like I was being pulled in different directions. This helped me see what projects need the most attention and which was can be placed on standby.
