Holidays ?
Are the holidays stressful because things creep up for you? Unresolved events that still linger and you need a way to move past them so that you can better move forward and capture some peace and hopefully bits of joy for yourself? Or are you close-knit and this is a great time of year for you and you’re at your best? I’m one of those people who sees a holiday as just another day. It’s a day I can spend by myself, doing whatever I want. I’ve never been close with any of my family, and never really did the whole tradition of holidays since I’ve been an adult on my own. I’ve created my own way of viewing the days, the season, as something special that’s all mine. Like I would prepare for others, I go all out for myself. I prepare for certain things ahead of time and I take pleasure in my comfort and peace. I did have to develop this, and it took time. I let my friends know I’m ok, and when possible I have great days spent with friends and make great memories. And even though the energy isn’t necessarily reciprocated by my family, I still include them for my peace of mind by sending them cards, heartfelt notes, and even small gesture gifts. I know I’m doing what’s right by my personal values, and that brings me peace. It is enough for me.

It’s the little things
when I’m in conversation with someone about trauma releasing I have a few key points that I like to share. One is trauma doesn’t always mean devastation. We all have our own definition for trauma. I like to remind people that stubbing your toe is trauma. Tissue swells and turns pink. Then for the next few hours or the next few days every time you take a step you feel pain. Every time you put on your socks and shoes you’re reminded about the pain. After a few hours of walking on painful, swollen tissue it becomes emotional. After a few days, it becomes mental. But in time the tissue does heal and the pain fades away, and you forget. Stubbed toes, not broken toes, are the types of traumas that are temporary, and the cumulative effect isn’t a life changing event. Our days and weeks are sprinkled with these quick cognitive ā€˜stubbed toes’. They don’t change us in the long run, but their affects temporarily reshape us. Stepping into Truth is a safe space to talk about our ’stubbed toes’ and get the support we need while we’re in the experience of it. It’s also a space for talking about our ā€˜broken toes’ too. Stepping into Truth is a space about more than just stubbed or broken toes, we’re going to get into all corners of a variety of things. I figured this is a good starting point for discussions. So, what currently has you š˜“š˜µš˜¶š˜£š˜£š˜¦š˜„?

@Fenix En.Ascenso is there any one instance that stands out for you, that had you going over things in your mind for a little longer than the rest?

It’s not about forgiveness. It’s not about detaching. It’s not avoidance. It’s understanding on a level that’s only met by the highest of consciousnesses. It’s awareness. It’s allowance and acceptance. It’s emotional intelligence. It’s about being thankful. It’s peace. Its presence.
