I’ve learned that it’s okay to take time for myself. In fact, it makes me a better person for everyone else. I’ll be honest—finding those 11 minutes each day just for me is something I still struggle with. Some days it’s easy, and other days it’s one more thing on an already full list. But I’m excited to keep working on it. Those 11 minutes are becoming a time to quiet my mind, focus on my breathing, and simply be present. Turning off my constantly busy brain isn’t easy, but I know that racing thoughts affect my sleep and so many other parts of my life. This is my work in progress: learning to breathe, giving myself grace, and trusting that every small step forward matters.

I took a few days to visit a dear friend in Arizona, and it was exactly what my heart needed. We laughed, talked, rested, and truly rejuvenated our souls. It reminded me that stepping away for a little while isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. I will come home with a full heart and renewed energy, ready to care for the people who need me. Taking time to recharge and refill my own cup allows me to show up as a better caretaker, a better friend, and a better version of myself. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give others is first giving ourselves permission to rest.

I live by the philosophy that a smile goes a long way. I love smiling and saying “hello,” “good morning,” or offering a helping hand whenever I can. The best part is that you never know when a small gesture might brighten someone’s entire day. And then there are the grumpy people—they never quite know what to do with a smile! Instead of bringing me down, they usually just make me smile even more. After all, kindness is free, contagious, and often shows up when it’s needed most.

As for the challenge, I’ve fallen off the wagon more times during these 22 days than I’d like to admit. But each time, I’ve chosen to get back up and try again. In a way, that may be one of the most valuable lessons of the challenge—not perfection, but persistence. I continue to show up, try, and keep moving forward. And when I do spend those 11 minutes doing something I love, relaxing, or simply being present, it’s incredibly satisfying. It reminds me why those small moments matter and how much they can positively impact the rest of my day.

It’s been a stressful few days, so my way of filling my cup today is letting go of the nonessential, setting aside the to-do list, and giving myself permission to simply breathe. It’s amazing how certain moments in life can shift your perspective and remind you of what’s really important.
