Getting in my head
Hello friends! I have practice sessions where I start out good, am focusing on posture and working on my stops and then get in my head and can’t even skate in a straight line steadily. I use music to focus on that, but sometimes that does not even help. Does anyone have any other tips or tricks they use?

@John Mattias Yeah, I do try stop and breathe sometimes, too. And this definitely helps! And usually skate solo and sometimes with my husband, but he has roller blades and does more trails.
Encourage Others
What would be the best way to encourage others to roller skate? Knowing the risks of falling.

I would also add wearing the proper protective gear so that when you fall, the gear can take the impact instead of your body. I couldn’t convince my husband to get protective gear, but then he had his first fall and that night he bought wrist guards and helmet! Thank goodness it was a minor but sudden enough fall to convince him.
Newbie on the Block
Hello All! I am new to this community and excited to have found this. I started rolling skating recently as an adult and am truly loving it. My confidence currently is mediocre, but every time I put my skates on, I get a bit more comfortable and confident and even had my first fall recently which wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!

You are all so amazing! Thank you!
Roller Skating and Health. 🤔
Been on a bit of a health kick lately and it has changed the way how I think about skating to an extent. So far I've discerned that skating is beneficial for cardio, leg, core, hip and ankle stability/strength. Those muscles and joints are often overlooked and can lead to some nasty problems if not maintained. I'm glad skating exists to remedy or prevent those problems. Its not a one size fits all solution obviously but it really helps. 😁

I recently started roller skating again (hadn’t done so since I was a kid) and WOW - you are spot on. My whole core (upper legs through back/abs), is definitely getting stronger and helping with some of my normal wear and tear pain from working as a desk jockey.
