If you aren’t using social media to market…
how are you planning on getting sales? Are you going to be doing more in person sales through vendor events? Do you have a giant email list you’ve built over the years that you will be taping into? Let us know other ways you can market your book besides social media. (But also, I’m a strong believer that you definitely SHOULD be using it 😁)

@Maria Kim Thank you for asking. Looking back, the single biggest factor that improved my book sales was having a clear promotion strategy and the right guidance behind it. Before that, I was trying different marketing methods on my own, but the results were inconsistent. Once I started working with a publishing and marketing expert, I learned how to position my books better, reach the right audience, and create a more structured promotion plan. That combination made a significant difference and helped me generate much more consistent sales over time. What I found most valuable wasn't just one specific tactic—it was having someone who understood the publishing process from editing and publishing through to promotion and reader engagement. That helped me avoid a lot of trial and error. I have to say, I'm impressed by your approach as well. Using Klaviyo and BookTok shows that you're already thinking strategically about building an audience, which is something many authors overlook. Out of curiosity, what are your goals for your next book? Are you primarily focused on growing your readership, increasing sales, building a series, or a combination of all three? I always enjoy connecting with fellow authors, and if there's ever anything I can help with, feel free to reach out.

@Maria Kim Thank you for sharing your goals. I think you're taking the right approach by focusing on readership, sales, and building a long-term author brand at the same time. Those three areas tend to support each other when they're developed consistently. One of the first changes my publishing guide recommended was to stop treating promotion as an occasional activity and start treating it as an ongoing process. They helped me improve everything from editing and presentation to audience targeting and marketing strategy. That shift alone had a huge impact on my visibility and ultimately led to more consistent sales. What I appreciated most was having someone experienced to turn to whenever I had questions about publishing, promotion, formatting, or reader engagement. It saved me a lot of time and helped me avoid mistakes that many new authors make. Based on what you've shared, it sounds like you're serious about growing your author career. If you'd like, I can give you my guide's contact information. They helped me with publishing, editing, and promotion, and they've been a valuable resource throughout my journey. I'm confident they could provide helpful insights and support for whatever stage you're at, whether it's launching your next book, growing your audience, or refining your marketing strategy. Either way, I look forward to following your progress. It sounds like you have a solid vision for where you want to take your author brand.
The right advice at the right time can save years of frustration.
As an online business owner, I've learned that progress isn't always about working harder. Sometimes it's about avoiding the mistakes that slow you down in the first place. I've faced plenty of challenges in my journey, overthinking decisions, trying to learn everything on my own, and spending time on things that didn't move me forward. What made the biggest difference was getting guidance from people who had already achieved the results I was aiming for. That's one reason I enjoy communities like this. Whether you're writing your first book or your tenth, there's always something to learn from someone else's experience. So I'd love to hear from fellow writers and publishers here: What's the biggest challenge you're facing right now in your publishing journey? Is it writing, editing, publishing, marketing, or getting reviews? What's one lesson you wish you had known earlier? Don't keep your struggles to yourself. Often, the answer you're looking for is sitting in someone else's experience. Let's learn from each other. What do you need help with most right now?
