Are You Actually Busy… Or Just Very Good at Avoiding Things? 😂 Come And Meet Lisa Adams.
Oh, this was a cracking conversation, and I have a feeling a few of you are going to recognise yourselves in it. I certainly did! I finally managed to sit down with Lisa Adams from The Regulated Leader for one of our Skool Events Daily interviews. We've been trying to arrange this chat for ages, so it was lovely to finally get together. Now, here's something that really caught my attention. Have you ever known EXACTLY what you need to do to move your business forward, known it would help you, perhaps even paid good money to learn how to do it… and then proceeded to do absolutely everything EXCEPT that? Oh, I know that one rather well! 😂 Lisa explained how some of the things we put down to procrastination, overthinking or a lack of discipline can actually be connected to how our nervous system responds when something feels uncomfortable or threatening. And this is where it gets interesting. You might desperately want to grow your business, become more visible, start making videos or put yourself out there. But if being seen has felt unsafe to you in the past, your body may be putting up a rather determined fight against your plans. So instead of doing that video, you suddenly find yourself scrolling through Facebook, rearranging your desk or deciding that NOW would be an excellent time to learn something else! Sound familiar? 😁 What I particularly liked about Lisa's approach is that she's not suggesting we all need another enormous programme of work to add to our already overflowing plates. Quite the opposite. Her free 90-minute workshops are designed to help people recognise a pattern that's holding them back and walk away with one small, practical tool they can actually use. Not another notebook full of wonderful ideas that ends up gathering dust on the shelf. And believe me, I've got a few of those! Lisa also shared a lovely example of a client in his 50s who had always considered himself shy. His goal was to make just ONE YouTube video during their eight weeks together.

@Andrew Brooks Might have to be later in the week. I won't be back to my home until Wednesday. What does the following week look like?

If you've tried every productivity system and none of them held
Not the planner. Not the time-blocking method. Not the app you swore would finally be "the one." You've done the work of trying, and it still didn't stick. Here's the thing nobody tells you: it was never a time management problem. It's a self-trust problem. And no calendar has ever fixed that. In this free workshop, I'm walking you through exactly what's actually happening underneath the busywork the redrafting, the inbox-clearing, the "one more thing" you say yes to instead of the no you actually need to say. It looks like productivity. It's actually avoidance. And once you can name it, you can finally catch it in the moment, not just in the aftermath. You'll leave with a real tool (not another system to abandon in a week) built for the exact moment this pattern shows up. 🗓️ The Hidden Cost of Productivity 📅 Sept 24 @ 9am 🔗 hidden.lisaadamscoaching.com If this is the tenth thing you've tried good. This one's built to hold.

@Heather Wilson I will look at doing one later in the day to ensure you can make it!

So I treat every presentation in my communities as a mini launch. Here's what that looks like in practice: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲: I create the calendar event and post about the session, covering the problem it solves and why I invited this particular guest. 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲: A second post with a fresh angle. That could be the guest's story, a result they've had, or what people will walk away with. 𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗜 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀. A morning reminder, then 1 hour to go, 30 minutes to go and 10 minutes to go. That might sound like a lot for one day. But the day itself is when most people decide whether to turn up. Someone who saw my post last week and meant to come has probably forgotten by Thursday afternoon. The countdown posts catch them at the moment they can actually act on it, and each one puts the join link right in front of them. 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: The replay goes up with a few key takeaways and the date of the next event, because a big share of people watch on demand rather than live. The early posts each give people a new reason to care. The day-of posts are there to get them through the door. Posting "don't forget Thursday!" every day for a week would be spam. Short countdown reminders on the day are just being helpful.

It does need to be shared a few times. We are all busy and can't remember all the amazing events.

Redrafting something that was already fine, staying late, saying yes when you meant no. It looks like work ethic. What it's actually costing you is time, energy, and money and it's quietly eating away at your bank account, your confidence, and your everyday life. In this free, live 60-minute workshop, you'll learn to recognize exactly what's happening when this shows up, and walk away with a simple system to determine whether it's avoidance or something else. Most of all, you'll see that this is achievable to work with even when your body is activated you don't have to wait until you feel calm to start. Live on Zoom, September 24 at 9:00 AM MDT. @Heather Wilson Yes, just a fast pitch to hit not a slow. It leaves the hand from a different place and don't lob in with a arc. Yes, it would have been amazing to go and see.

@Heather Wilson yes we played co-ed and there was a pitcher that pitched in the 90lm/ hr range. It was crazy fast.
The most 'productive' hour of your day might just be the hour you're avoiding something harder.
This is for online entrepreneurs and coaches who've built something real but who still open the laptop at 11pm not because the work is urgent, but because stopping means sitting with a feeling you'd rather avoid. Maybe it's a boundary you keep bending. Maybe it's a price you know you should raise but haven't. Maybe it's a conversation you keep finding ways around instead of just having. Here's the thing: it's not a discipline problem. It's not your calendar. It's that you don't fully trust yourself yet to hold the line so you keep busy instead. 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆) 📅 September 9 @ 2PM MDT You'll leave with one real tool: five questions, under two minutes, built to work at 11pm when you're already half-dysregulated so next time it happens, you catch it instead of missing it again. You won't fix the pattern in an hour. But you'll finally be able to see it. That's the whole shift. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://hidden.lisaadamscoaching.com/

@Kerry Upham Yes! And sometimes that 1% looks like overworking but not on the work that will actually move the business forward. We can stay busy with planning, organizing, researching, or perfecting while avoiding the uncomfortable task underneath it all. The first 1% may simply be noticing the pattern: What am I keeping myself busy with, and what am I avoiding? Once we recognize the pattern and regulate what’s creating the resistance, that next step can become much easier than we imagined.
