Strength 4 Cheer Team Highlight
Wanted to post a quick shout out to the Carterville High School Cheer Team for all of the hard work they put into their strength and conditioning program last year! Check out “strength 4 cheer” in our classroom to see the program they followed! @Linda Drust

Thank you for the recognition! We really did work hard and recognized the progress in every athlete. The program was a great motivator for increasing strength and recognized at least five of our cheerleaders among the top 10 strongest athletes in our PE program. We achieved skills that we could only dream about! One skill that my girls have continued to work on after the season is a perfectly executed hand in hand/inversion to completely extended position..this is the most difficult partner stunt listed on our competition rubric. We are extending our participation for the next year and expect our returnees to continue growth and excited to add incoming freshmen. Thank you, CHEER DOCTOR!

@Jennifer Taylor this is so exciting to learn! I’m from Illinois. We have winter sideline and winter competitive cheer. It’s hard, because we are required to cheer at all boys basketball games (home and away) plus we train hard and compete at the same time. Make sure your team is in great shape, educate them about proper nutrition, and proper rest. Watch for fatigue. We participated in Strength 4 Cheer last year and it really helped with our overall strength and stamina, and helped reduce injuries from over-use. Best wishes with your new “sport.”

I’m interested in knowing how coaches manage practice time. What does your practice plan look like? How much time for stunting? Conditioning? Etc. How long are your practices and how often do you practice?
