Organizing Physiology First Notes
Hello everyone, I am currently organizing all of my physiology first notes into a google doc and was wondering if anyone would be interested in receiving a copy once I am finished. I am a decent note taker and love laying things out in a clear and organized fashion so they are very easy to read and understand. I'm sure you all have your own personal notes, and David will be sending out the PDFs soon as well, just wanted to throw it out there if anyone is interested.

Happy 2025 Team! Some thoughts to share with all of you…
Happy 2025 team! Some thoughts and updates to share… The Hero’s Journey There is no story less inspiring than the story of the individual stepping out into the adventure of their lives, and falling into a string of easy victories, world changing impact, and effortless successes. That is because this story misses the point of the hero’s journey. It is through battles, losses, and unprecedented challenges that we become the person who can manifest the world changing impact we sought to make. As we head into a new year I want to paint an inglorious picture of what putting the Physiology First Approach into practice might look like… The breathing class that you raced to teach after a busy day, and spent the week preparing for, only to find that no one showed up, again… The contract with a school that you “almost” got before some bureaucratic back out happened at the last moment… The gym that you pitched to collaborate and share space, only to realize one again that the urgency to help the next generation improve their health is not only absent in the fitness industry at large, it isn’t even something they understand as important. At least not until kids have credit cards… Flash forward to the other side of that year of attempted impact, and recognize that your preparation got you ready to deliver the breathing class, the Student Strong workout, the speaking event, or the contract negotiation when the efforts that you thought had gone unnoticed prove to be the reason that these opportunities came your way. In a world where everyone talks, plans, and prepares, but so few ACT, leaders stand out to other leaders. The journey isn’t just about the things that work, it’s about who you become when they aren’t working, and how you pivot, adapt, and grow into a stronger communicator, entrepreneur, and human being through the process. This year, pick one of the 4 modes of impact that we outlined in the Level One Certification Program and bring it to life in your community!

Happy New Year everyone! Very inspiring post! Totally agree that the ACT portion is left out of many people’s visions and dreams. If I remember correctly David, you mentioned there was going to be a short module assessment? When will that be posted?

I Have Been a Zone 4 and 5 Avoider
I have always avoided cardiovascular exercise because of how uncomfortable it is and also because burning calories and/or weight loss has never been a fitness goal of mine, quite on the contrary, I'm always looking to gain a bit of weight, especially muscle. But after listening to @David Bidler talk about the importance of zone 4 and 5 training, I have been committing myself to running more and really getting my heart rate up. All I can say is, I have never felt better. My mind is clearer, my body feels more oxygenated, I feel less irritable, any stress I do have in my life I'm able to address it with more ease and patience, I have fewer digestive issues and am experiencing so many more benefits. I've noticed that there is a threshold point when doing cardio that you just need to push past, and after that, it is almost trance inducing and the feeling afterwards is so worth it.

@David Bidler How fascinating about the lactate! Makes so much sense and I can feel that each time I do those higher intensity workouts. Best part is that everyone has access to this. Thank you for sharing this link!
Module 6 Reflections
This module was absolutely fascinating to me. Though I will need to continue to review my notes and study the details about the various testing, what they do, and how they can offer individualized insight into our physiology, I feel like I have a much broader understanding of how these technologies can really help empower us to make the lifestyle changes needed to live a healthy, thriving life. Before I write my module 6 reflections, I have some questions around RMR and VO2 Max testing. I have never tested either on myself, and would really like to. Would one test these at a physical therapy facility? I really don't think there is anything like Physiology First in my nearby area! Reflections: The relationship between psychological and physiological health are one and the same. Every symptom has a physiological root, including outcomes such as chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, and mood "disorders". All of these non-optimal states can be transformed into optimal states if we invest our time and curiosity into learning about our physiology through the various technologies we have available to us such as VO2 max testing and RMR. We can also make massive improvements in our health through simply tracking our HRV, optimizing our sleeping habits, learning to manage our stress, and continuing to stay curious about what our physiology is trying to tell us.
