Hello
I’m Leslie. I live in the PNW, although originally from Toronto. I met some of you at LAAX over the years, and I’m looking forward to coming back out there in March this year to land some new tricks.

Footbeds
Hi everyone, I’m Manolis and I just joined the community. I had a question about footbeds and boot fit. I’ve actually never used footbeds before. I’ve always skied with just the boot as it came. Recently, though, I realized that my heel is lifting, especially when I’m flexing forward or when i try to ski switch (on the outside ski). I’m wondering whether getting custom footbeds would be a good step to improve heel retention and/or my general skiing experience. Any advice or experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If your heel is lifting a lot, I’m not sure a footbed would change anything substantially. It’s usually a sign that your boot doesn’t fit that well. There are some cheaper options than getting a new boot. For example, you could try using a liner sleeve to hold your heel in: https://youtu.be/wv_pOJMkPkM?si=2PTPxaLCI6Cu1gzn I’m not sure how effective they are. The usual thing that people do is they just add foam to the outside of their liner to pad the Achilles area. A boot fitter can do it for you. These are just bandage solutions though.
