Active Listening follow up
I wanted to share with you all how active listening helped me in a situation yesterday as an HR executive. An employee's direct supervisor advised her to break protocol and this created an issue with a 3rd party vendor, and created a breakdown in client care. Her direct supervisor initiated a termination and when the subordinate was notified, she was not only shocked but offered some critical information that was news to HR. As a result her termination was reversed and her supervisor is now in the hot seat. If I didn't pause to gather the facts and went with what I was told.... she would have lost her job.
