Wondering how far you all have to go to get produce is it tricky or is it getting better for you. I can get eggs milk yoghurt, could get cheese but dont, dont eat meat but theres a few sources. I cant get fish, grow almost all my own veg and fruit. I dont grow alot of potatoes and carrots, I like to leave that for the farmers, theyre easy crops for them and should at very east be growing them on their land. Butter and cream -difficult, unreliable. Obviously we will not be able to get everything whether time, economics, unavailability. Theres alot of travelling around though, its a deterrant. Needs solving.

I live in a small town - we have an independent butcher and greengrocer - but the only place you can buy milk is in one of the supermarkets (we have plenty of those). A small garden means limited space to grow and this week we have just been declared a drought-area 🫠
what - no brown eggs?
so apparently a certain supermarket are only going to sell white eggs in the future - because the hens will be smaller than standard, eat less and produce less manure. have they not heard of bantams? our Welsummer bantam lays lovely brown eggs. should we let them in on the secret? 🤣

@Mark Byford ah, that explains a lot - I was looking through my old folders the other day; bird flu has been 'in the news' since 2008 - they've talking about jabbing birds ever since

@Allys Farmer have you thought about trying to preserve some eggs when they're laying plenty? I haven't tried water-glassing myself but I hear it's very effective. I think last year our girls only missed December.

Something is hampering veg growth?
I have been growing veg and flowers for as long as I remember. And their management as a groundsmen of an estate. I have over the last couple years I have noticed something, but not being able to put my finger on what that is. Plants struggling to take hold. Mature plants just giving up the ghost. Plants not putting on healthy growth in prime conditions. In the estate there are many ornamental shrubs biannual and perennials. The biennials would be prolific self seeders. This year it has been so noticeable that biennials have not grown. The perennials seem stressed where grow has been weak. This has also noticeable in the allotment and the orchard. The apple and pears are carrying 70% less fruit this year. Early veg has been weedy. On the estate there watering systems so it not down water stress. This is well drawn water I would add. It feels like there is some changing and I don’t buy the climate crisis. Is anyone else noticing similar issues???

can people still get T&M seeds?? Their germination rate used to be 80% - what I've been trying to grow the last 2 years have had less than 50% success rate.
Importance of wildlife
We’ve been adding more things fir nature especially for the birds 🦅 We are 100% chemical free growers and the importance of nurturing nature is huge Encouraging bird bees and bugs is crucial as we move towards a better more sustainable growing environment 🥰❤️🙏

we don't even have nettles in our garden - the chickens get all the green things (even tho' we give them chopped kale)
