Use caution with so called "recruiters!"
Recruiters are not all the same and I would love to hear the Coaches address recruiting services here. There is a growing number of independent and affiliated recruitment companies that are not what they claim to be, who are aggressively recruiting kids on X. My son just moved on to play D1 football. Before he committed, we had a number of recruiters reach out to him from an organization called Expo Recruits. They used a templated messaging approach - and we had about 15 affiliated recruiters reach out to us . Every message was about the same. They artfully try to get athletes to agree to work with them, dangling gear and NIL deals as bait. Two recruiters actually impersonated D1 FBS coaches to get a follow back. When I researched them they were actually not on staff. We reported those individuals to the universities they claimed to represent. One of these recruiters recently reached out to a friend's son, who is a talented junior - offering him free merch if he agreed to work with them. I warned them about this company. If you are under 18 , there is NOT ONE reputable recruiter that will try to speak to you without your parents. If you are over 18, you should bring your parents into the discussion. This is especially true. If you are a talented player that is getting a lot of attention. There are agents and recruiters that are, unfortunately, working for selfish gain, and you need parental protection. @Tommy Reamon Can you give some advice and explain what you should look for if you're looking for a recruitment service? There are some reputable services - but some are better than others. My take: in addition to the admissions above, the way football recruiting has evolved, and based on our journey (we paid a lot of money to join NCSA) my personal opinion is that the best recruiting support comes from highly relational recruiters that have established relationships with targeted schools, and a proven reputation and track record. These types of recruiters tend to work with kids with proven talent, and work one-on-one. However, that often comes with a higher price tag. Before paying a recruiter consider getting a trusted evaluation from someone like the coaches here.

Ankle Flexibility + Shin Angle: The Hidden Key to Athletic Movement
Most athletes think speed and explosiveness come from strength alone. But a lot of times, the problem starts lower. If your ankles are stiff, your body has to find movement somewhere else. That usually means the knees, hips, or lower back start doing extra work. I first learned about this from Coach Rick Trickett, most famously known for his work at West Virginia University and Florida State University as the OL coach. That’s why ankle flexibility matters. When an athlete has better ankle mobility, they can create better shin angles. And better shin angles show up EVERYWHERE: Acceleration Change of direction Deceleration Balance Force production Playing low without bending over at the waist When an athlete can’t get their knee over their toe, it becomes harder to stay in powerful positions. You’ll see it in simple ways. They pop straight up when they run. They round their back in their stance. They lose balance when they cut. They look stiff trying to bend. A good shin angle helps you push the ground the right way. That’s how you create drive. That’s how you come out of breaks. That’s how you strike, redirect, and recover. So parents and athletes, don’t overlook mobility work. Simple places to start: Wall ankle rocks Knee-over-toe mobility Calf stretching Tibialis raises Barefoot balance work Controlled squat holds

Camp Recap
Yesterday I was at the Under Armour Next Camp in Baltimore evaluating some of the top talent in the region. Today, I’ll be sharing a recap along with key takeaways, standout performers, recruiting observations, and lessons every athlete can learn from the camp. Be on the lookout. There’s a lot to unpack.

@Wesley West our biggest problem is that we didn't have the finances to take our athlete to a lot of high exposure camps, plus lost his junior year to a broken foot. So he lacked both film and exposure. He's 6'7 and 375 lbs. LT/LG -- and a mauler who can move with a high ceiling. The one D1 offer he received his senior year, was from a coach who saw him in person and recognized his athleticism and potential. That stuff only partially came out on film. @Wesley West do you feel like the eye test is especially important for OL?

@Wesley West I'm sure it's multifaceted, but can you tell me how you judge ankle flexibility? Is it a sheet matter of bend and movement?
