Let me ask you something most men won't admit out loud.
How much is alcohol actually costing you? Not in dollars. In results. I see it constantly. Men in this community training hard, eating reasonably well, doing everything right , and then wondering why the scale isn't moving, why recovery feels off, why sleep isn't restoring them. A lot of the time the answer is in the glass. Alcohol after 40 hits differently. It disrupts your sleep architecture, you might be in bed eight hours and still waking up unrecovered. It spikes inflammation, which is already elevated as we age. It tanks testosterone. It slows metabolism. And it makes every single nutritional decision harder the next day. I'm not here to tell you never to enjoy yourself. That's not the Built Different message. But I am telling you to be honest with yourself about what it's actually doing to your results. I cut it out. Not because someone told me to, because I did the experiment myself and the difference in my recovery, my sleep, my energy, and my body composition was not subtle. That's the data. What you do with it is your choice. Be honest with me, how often are you drinking, and do you think it's affecting your progress more than you're willing to admit? Drop it below. No judgment in here. Just honesty. 👇

I quit alcohol for all the reasons Keith mentioned plus a few. I believe it robs your gains and adds empty calories. Why push yourself in the gym and meal prep only to undue your hard work? Some may say they can do both. If you’re 25 maybe. It will catch up with you in time.
What does cardio actually look like in your routine right now?
Let me ask you guys something directly. What does cardio actually look like in your routine right now? I get this question constantly and my honest answer is, it depends entirely on where you are and what you're trying to do. For me personally, I don't do a lot of traditional cardio. The way I train, shorter rest periods, higher reps, moving through the session with intention, my heart rate stays elevated through the whole workout. That's my cardio. It works for me. But I'm not you. If you're carrying extra weight, cardio has a role, but not mindless flat treadmill walking. You need incline. You need a real protocol paired with your diet. Walking on a flat belt for 20 minutes isn't moving the needle. If heart health is your concern, that's a different conversation entirely. Cardiovascular conditioning for longevity looks different from cardio for fat loss. Both matter. Neither is optional. And if you're trying to build muscle and you're a hard gainer, be careful. Too much cardio eats into recovery and you'll wonder why the gains aren't coming. There's no cookie cutter answer here. That's the whole point. You are built different from the next guy. What works for one man may work against another. What does cardio look like in your routine right now, and do you feel like it's actually serving your goals or just something you feel like you're supposed to do? Drop it below. 👇

Daily walks, cycling outdoors x4 weekly, 11,000 plus daily steps, incline treadmill, and rower for variety.
Creatine
Curious if anyone has been using creatine for a longer period e.g. a year or more? I've been using it for about 3 months now, 5g a day. I feel like it has made a difference not only physically but also with my mental acuity. That said, I just changed medical clinics and saw a new doctor for the first time. When I mentioned I was using creatine, he freaked out and said I had to quit immediately as it did serious damage to kidneys. Everything I've read said that in small quantities it wasn't an issue. Any comments?

My PCP approved and monitors annually with lab work. He is an Osteopathic rather than an MD.
Protein
I wanted to ask our community here where you are finding high protein (preferably meat) items for a CHEAP price? Thank you!

Lean pork chops, ground beef, ground turkey, tofu, chicken (eggs) and fish. All freeze well. Roast instead of steaks. Watch for specials and markdowns.
Keep moving and remain strong
Lifting consistently, monitoring food intake, keeping Cardiovascular Health on the radar. Aging sucks if you let it.
