PART III My Journey with the Council of 12 - MEDITATION As I grew and learned with the C12, it was instantly apparent a treasure trove had surely opened. So many topics and processes came to light it is a challenge to keep a sequential account as I truly do not recall what happened first, or second, or even last. There came a time when meditation became very interesting to me. I spoke to a friend about it and she gave me some generic instructions on the ‘how-to’ aspect. As we concluded our talk and our lunch we each went our separate ways. I had to run to my car in the parking lot as the skies had unleashed torrents of rain and the wind was a driving force making walking/running difficult. As I did and didn’t dodge huge puddles along the way I found myself giggling at the fact I hadn’t worn a jacket. Oh well! Once home I changed out of my wet things. I recall not being able to do it fast enough as I was so excited to experience meditation for the first time. I forced myself to slow down and savour the moment so I made some tea, reviewed the instructions from my friend and settled in. I was finding it somewhat difficult to get comfortable as the weather, and lack of a coat in the inclement weather, had given me quite a chill. I quickly retrieved my heating pad, plugged it in, laid it across my lap and cranked it right to High. Thus settled, sitting upright on the couch, I closed my eyes and began to focus on my breath. I noticed how effortless it was happening. Breathing in and then out, I established a rhythm that was altogether pleasant and easy. I felt I was sitting in a black void behind my eyelids, the pulsing rhythm of my breathing easily relaxed me in this new-found place. Then something happened I had never expected. I felt a pulling sensation on my back directly behind my solar plexus. I remember telling myself that this was normal and to just keep relaxed and let things happen (something my friend had suggested). Everything happened so quickly at that point!
