Words of Wisdom, from Gary Vee
This should be WILDLY encouraging to you if you take to heart what one of the most celebrating minds of our time says about your level playing field on social media: “We no longer live in social media, friends. Social media died four or five years ago. Nobody has coined the new term, but what I call it is "interest media." How many of you have been on one of the social platforms for over eight years? If you have, you know what I'm talking about. 10 years ago, eight years ago... you would see content from the people you followed. Now, you're seeing content based on what you've recently been paying attention to ... whether it's politics, sports, cooking, baseball, etc. We are now in interest media. Why is this super intoxicating for everyone reading this? Because so many of you have actually been horrible, underperforming, not diligent, not disciplined, not gangster about the single most important platform of attention in the world (called social media), and now that's irrelevant... because in the world of interest media, you've actually not lost time, you've not lost advantages, you've not been outflanked... because literally, if you start tomorrow, your third post with nine followers on TikTok or 48 followers on Instagram can get more views than my posts in three days. We're all on even playing field now. The create itself is now the merit of distribution, not how many followers you have. That's a level of merit and opportunity that is insane, and it should have every single person here running to go post some sh*t.”
