Don’t Fear the First
The first of the month can feel like a monster under the bed - rent's due, bills are stacked, and that old friend called panic starts to creep in. But here's the truth: you don't have to fear the first. Instead of stressing over what to cut out, start thinking about how to create the cash you need. And no, I'm not talking about a second job or another loan. I'm talking about simple, smart Credit Avenger moves that help you stay in control. Here are five small ways to build breathing room before the bills hit: 1. Sell what's collecting dust. Clothes, tools, or tech - cash in on clutter. 2. Flip a skill. Offer a weekend service, such as yard work, tutoring, or design assistance. 3. Cash in on your curiosity. Try paid surveys, product testing, or local focus groups. 4. Slash the waste. Audit subscriptions and unused memberships. Every $10 counts. 5. Start your snowball. Apply even small wins toward one debt and watch momentum grow. You're not powerless. You're just one creative idea away from turning stress into strategy. The goal isn't just to survive the first - it's to own it. Because every month is another chance to say, "I am the Credit Avenger."

Great advice, John. A few days ago, I created a WPS sheets document to track all my finances. I have 5 spreadsheets in My Financial Picture Workbook. I will be adding a sheet to track all the online subscriptions I have. It can mess up things quickly there is a yearly subscription that auto renews suddenly and I haven't accounted for it in my budget. Yearly subscriptions are cheaper than monthly but can be a large amount all at one time. I spent a good two hours on the with my phone and my internet provider pouring over cutting out all the extras that I didn't need or use. Thank God, I was introduced to a lady two years ago, who acts on my behalf to negotate the lowest possible prices for me. She always makes sure when we are finished with the different departments to ask to be passed along to the Customer Loyalty department and as a rule they give me another discount on top of all the slashes that were made. The greatest thing is she doesn't charge her clients for her services. The lady I mentioned came into my life 2 years ago when I was panicked as my power bill had jumped to $600/month for a couple of months. With her help I was able to change providers and we got my bill down to $300/month. Yesterday we managed to slash $150 dollars off of my internet services. One thing with finances, I have always used the moto "where there is a will, there is a way." Don't panic, look for the way.

She came into my life shortly after my husband passed. He took care of all the finances. I was struggling with transferring everything over into my name and trying to figure out the system my hubby had used for years. He was a "numbers and strategies" man which ment it was complicated but efficient once I figured out the strategies he used. One of my long time trusted friends referred her to me . Reaching out to her was the best thing I did. She has helped me every step of the way, going above and beyond to be not only my advocate but trusted confidante and moral supporter, too.
