Savoir Fare?
Here's something for my fellow Skool mates that you might not have tried yet: white wine from France's Savoie (note the different spelling but similar pronunciation) region. This region in eastern France, near the Swiss border, produces some interesting wines, particularly whites. More than just ski chalet wines, these are food friendly, low alcohol, affordable and just plain quaffable. Supposedly the perfect match with raclette. If you can find one, the grape will usually be Jacquere: little floral, a little white fruit and often with some surprising minerality. Cheers!

@Marie Cheslik ya gotta really commit to a chunk of time when going. At least that’s what I remember. How was it?
Wine Rut?
Sounds bad, doesn't it? It doesn't have to be though. By wine rut, I mean falling into a pattern of buying and drinking a narrow range of varietals and/or producers. It happens from time to time, and I noticed I am in one right now. Currently very Pinot Noir oriented. I've always loved the varietal (think Miles' soliloquy in Sideways), but find it just seems to check all the right boxes for me now in terms of what I'm eating, the weather, etc. I'm a little broader on the whites, but not by much! Anybody else a "victim" of wine rut? If so, what do you do to break out? We all need to challenge ourselves to keep experimenting and learning. Sometimes easier said than done! šŸ·

@Samantha Scott I have loved Poully Fuisse all my adult drinking life but haven’t had it in years. Thanks for the reminder!
I must’ve been French in a former life.
Once again I am drawn to French wines like a moth to a flame. Had this Bordeax Blanc last night at our favorite restaurant, Livia, in Geneva IL. They always have incredible wines. Might of just been my infantile nose but I thought I might’ve smell a spice like basil or oregano but definitely lemony and zingy. So delicious!
