I have become quite fed up with QBOA. Wish the old Desktop were still around. That being said, anyone else been been frustrated? Any other accounting software you recommend? The AI built into QBOA is making more problems with incorrect COA entries.

I spent the best part of a month wondering why my AI kept losing track of who I was. Turns out it wasn't me getting something wrong. If you use Cowork and you've set up Global Instructions (Settings → Cowork → Global Instructions) to tell Claude who you are, how you like to work, your safety rules... you might have noticed they occasionally revert to an old version. You update them. They look right. Days later, they're back to something you wrote weeks ago. I checked properly. It's a known bug, not user error: - Settings → Cowork → Global Instructions can silently revert to a stale saved version - It happened to me repeatedly, on two different devices - It's logged on Anthropic's own bug tracker, with several separate reports of the same thing - As of now, it's still unresolved I've linked one of the open reports below if you want to see it for yourself 👉 https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/40175 The workaround that's worked for me... don't rely on that Settings box alone. If you have a folder connected to your Cowork session, put your real instructions in a file there instead (a CLAUDE.md file, if that means anything to you). Claude reads that straight off your files every time, and it isn't affected by this particular bug. Annoying to find. Easy enough to work around once you know. A client didn't have a spreadsheet for some data we needed. All they had was a couple PDF files of AR in a dropbox folder we couldn't download from. We used screen capture to get images that we put into AI for OCR, and told AI to create a spreadsheet adding the sheet with each new image we added. When we added the last image, AI ran totals and subtotals. And found that at least one set of data was missed. It told me the values to look for. It took me less than a minute to find the missing transaction. Everything match up after that. Whoo-hoo!

Last week at Google I/O, they announced something called Gemini Spark ... and this one is worth paying attention to. Spark is a personal AI agent that lives inside the Gemini app. But unlike a normal chatbot, it doesn't stop when you close your laptop. You give it a task, and it keeps working in the background ... even when your computer is off. Here's what caught my eye: - It connects directly to Gmail, Docs, and Slides ... so it can actually read your emails, summarise threads, and pull out deadlines without you doing anything - You can set it to do recurring tasks ... like checking your inbox for something specific every day or flagging overdue items - It asks permission before doing anything high-stakes like sending an email or spending money - It's rolling out to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US first, with a desktop version coming this summer My honest take? This is where AI is heading. Not just answering questions when you ask ... but doing things for you in the background, on a schedule, across your apps. For accountants using Google Workspace, that's a big deal. We're still early days, but this is the kind of shift that will change how firms work over the next year or two.
