It’s 5:33 AM. It’s raining. I’m sitting outside of my gym, early for a 5:45 AM class. And I’m just sitting here thinking: 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝐼 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑚 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑟𝑟𝑜𝑟 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝐼’𝑚 𝑜𝑘𝑎𝑦 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑡. I’ve been on this fitness journey for a while now—and honestly? It’s been a roller coaster. Lose weight. Gain it back. Get committed. Fall off. Repeat. My schedule is wild. I’m either speaking, flying, working, or recovering. But if I’m keeping it all the way real? 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬. I decided today—again—that every week I’m home, I’m weight lifting. Period. I’ve recommitted to my trainer. I’ve got an accountability partner. I’m building the structure I need. I know what works for me. And when I’ve seen the biggest shifts, it’s always been from lifting, eating clean, and staying consistent. I got on the scale the other day and literally said out loud: “Ain’t no way…” 😩😩 I looked at that number like, how did I let this happen? Another five pounds up—and I was disappointed in myself. Not ashamed. Just honest. Like, girl, come on. You know better. You’ve done better. And I’m not beating myself up—but I am holding myself accountable. Because my body deserves to be honored. It’s a blessing that I can move. That I can lift. That I can train. It’s a blessing that I have access to a gym I feel safe in. It’s a blessing that I can afford support and invest in my wellness. So this? This is Day One of a fresh start. And I’ve made peace with the fact that trying again doesn’t mean I failed—it means I still care.
