As a younger instructor, I often struggle to build up the confidence to take larger sections of the class such as warmups. However, last Thursday I was able to take two "Little Dragons" (30 minute classes for kids aged 3-5 years) classes consecutively while dealing with a new curriculum, students that I had never met before, as well as some first-time students and their parents. While some of my peers have been doing stuff like this for a while, this was a really big step for me, as building up the confidence to be in front of students by myself is something I do struggle with to quite a large extent. However, I was able to stick to the curriculum without having to check it and received positive reactions from both the students and parents, making me have more confidence in myself and feeling better about taking those classes more frequently in the near future. I also then took stretches in a family class the day after, which was much more daunting, but by using little interactive tricks of mine (adapted from the Little Dragons program), it made it a lot more engaging and enjoyable for both myself and those present.
