Introduction
I have run my own businesses for many years, done OK-ish, but am struggling now that I am working alone. I am a real "people person", a real giver who brings energy into a room and supports others (I was recently described as "just the best wingman" and I would kinda agree), but honestly not getting back anything like the support I give. I signed up for this, hoping to find my mojo again.

@Deb Brouwer Oh wow, a real, kind response. So much appreciated (I think there's something in my eye). I think I'm going to like this community.

Skeptic
Hey there - I'm working hard on the challenges of running my own business. During Covid I accepted a consulting position that is exactly wrong for my ADHD brain and has completely knocked my confidence but at least I was working and getting paid. The start/stop/pause panic of trying to run a leading edge world leadership program pre covid just had me feeling inadequate - my program is tested as superior and has huge impact but i cannot market to save my soul. At this point I am working hard to get my business back and on the right foot - so I look for help. I am looking for skills, tools, success. I am not looking for a chat group. I am feeling a big skeptical on whether this group will have value. I've been working with AI directly on this and it looks like all this group is is another AI "twin" to tease with minimal value to gether clients. Disappointed so far.

It's wrong to be hard on yourself. Again and again, I am often reminded of the power of a small core team. I struggle with working alone but my confidence and effectiveness increases massively when partnered with a focused "do-er" and perhaps a detail-oriented administrator to ensure all jobs are finished. We all love it. I am great at knocking on doors, motivating people, thinking strategically and generally bringing clever solutions and energy into the room. You will often find this with successful people. That also makes me feel better. i hope it does you too.
I am at a low point: struggling to answer an official request
📅 Daily Check-in - July 28, 2026 💭 Reflection: "Right now I am desperate. I need to answer to an insurance request relating to an incident with the rental car in Germany. I meant to do it yesterday, but ended up mostly playing games on my iPhone, and today was the same. I was barely able to start the computer and at least do this check-in." 📊 Wellbeing Scores: 😊 Happiness: 3/10 ⚡ Energy: 2/10 🎯 Focus: 3/10 😌 Calmness: 4/10 🌙 Sleep Quality: 6/10 🔥 Motivation: 2/10 ⭐ Average: 3.3/10 ✅ Activities from yesterday: 🚿 Cold Shower 😴 Nap 🌙 Early Bedtime ☀️ Morning Sunlight 💧 Stayed Hydrated 🌿 Grounding 🚶 Walk 🍺 No Alcohol ☕ No Late Caffeine 💊 Took Supplements 💚 Gratitude Practice 📅 No Meetings 📚 Reading 📞 Called Friend/Family

I struggle with these, but what works for me is thinking of this as a hill. The start is just where you put your boots on, the grind is the main part of the climb, at some stage on that climb, you realise that you have come further than halfway. I clear my desk, kid myself that I am organised and focused, then start and try to make it to 3/4 before allowing myself the option of doing something else I need to do (ie not my phone). I find that this makes it easier to get back to and I kinda find my motivation to get back and complete it, much more then if just 1/3 of the way through. When done, I also personally often find that my phone has less of an attraction.
Finish What I Start
That’s a trait I am here to learn as I love the feeling of checking something off the list. I just keep adding way more to the list than I check off so feel like I’m living each day on a hamster wheel. Phew! I finished this post. Progress!

Exactly this.
Operating Manual Progress
Section 2 of the Operating Manual just explained my evenings to me. The scrolling and late-night snacking I always called weakness turns out to be a wired nervous system grabbing the fastest lever it can reach, and the checking was feeding the exact loop I was trying to escape. And the calmest I've felt recently, walking alone in the hills, was my system showing me the way out.
