Most people misunderstand burnout.
Burnout isn’t caused by kids training too much. It’s caused by kids feeling trapped or stuck. There are really only two reasons young athletes burn out: 1. They’re doing a sport they didn’t truly choose. 2. They want to be there, but they stop improving, so the work feels pointless. Hard training doesn’t kill motivation. Lack of progress, challenge, or ownership does. A kid who chooses the sport and gets better will keep showing up. A kid who feels forced or stagnant will quietly check out, even if their schedule is light. If you’re worried about burnout, don’t count hours. Ask: Does my child still want this? Are they still growing That’s the real line between healthy commitment and burnout. Curious, have you seen this play out with your own kid or team?

@David Gomez People underestimate what kids want and can handle far too often.

@David Gomez We find this happens often. People think the gym/program is "bad," but honestly, most often it's just misalignment. We tell parents there is no generic "right" program; there is only the right fit for their family.
What made you worried about your child’s program?
Poor coaching? Not competitive enough? Not enough Playing time?
