🥚 Tamagoyaki vs 🥬 Okonomiyaki
Yesterday’s winner was… ざるそば (Zaru Soba)! 🍜🎉 A narrow victory for cool, refreshing simplicity! Now for today’s delicious showdown… 🔥 Japanese Food Tournament — Round 1 Matchup 🔥🥚 Tamagoyaki vs 🥬 Okonomiyaki Simple sweetness versus savoury street-food comfort. Only one moves on. 🥚 Tamagoyaki (卵焼き) Soft, slightly sweet, and carefully layered, tamagoyaki is a classic Japanese rolled omelette. Made by cooking thin layers of egg in a rectangular pan and rolling them together, it’s a staple in bento lunches, breakfasts and sushi restaurants. Why people love it: - Light, fluffy, and gently sweet - A comforting everyday food - Simple ingredients with skilled preparation - A familiar taste of home cooking in Japan This is simplicity done beautifully. 🥬 Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) Often called a “Japanese savoury pancake,” okonomiyaki is packed with cabbage, batter and ingredients like pork, seafood, or cheese — cooked on a hot plate and topped with sauce, mayonnaise, seaweed and bonito flakes. The name means “cook what you like,” and every region and household has its own version. Why people love it: - Fun, social cooking experience - Bold, savoury flavours - Street-food energy and comfort - Highly customizable This is Japanese comfort food with personality. 🗳️ Time to Vote! Which one moves forward? - The soft, sweet comfort of tamagoyaki? - Or the savoury, customizable joy of okonomiyaki? Vote now and tell us why! 🥚🥬

Introduce yourself and share a pic of something Japanese you own or something Japanese that you're interested in! Feel free to explain why you want to learn Japanese or what you like about Japan. Also, feel free to post any Japanese language questions you have. I'd be glad to answer them! As for me, I love learning Judo. Have you ever tried it? And I love Japanese literature, such as Kokoro by Natsume Soseki. Have you read any Japanese novels? I also really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop when it came out! Not the live action Netflix version!
