Why Do You Avoid Live Mastermind Calls?
People-ing is scary. I can't tell you how many times I've found excuses... most of the time really silly ones... to say "I'd be ok if I don't pop in this week's matermind call" I do this even when it's a mastermind where I've known almost everyone there for YEARS. Even calls where I know what to expect when we hop on the call so I'm not guessing at what's going to be expected of me. Even when I've paid substantial money for access to that room and those people. Despite all the reasons to show up, there's still this element of fear and anxiety and dread as I hover my mouse over the link to join the call. I tell myself, "I really should get some more work done today. I'll go next week. It'll be ok." But here's the thing... There are times when I push through. I click the link. I nervously wait on the meeting to load... taking a deep breath. Settling my nerves. Hearing my heart pounding in my ears. I gather my resolve and parepare as faces load and greetings stream through my speakers invading my quiet space. I ackwardly smile and swap greetings and settle in with my heart thumping quickly in my chest... hoping, pleading with the universe, for nobody to ask me a question or try to talk to me. Most of the time I'm pretty quiet. I might type a few things in the chat, but I rarely come off mute and speak. I listen. I take notes. I watch people. I learn. However, sometimes... some times... I gather up the courage to talk and really great things happen. Kasim tells a story to his community of one of those times. People who've heard it have started saying things like "I love the Kasim and Christina story!" That day, I was in my PJ's still, no makeup on, messy hair, totally unprepared for people-ing and nervous as hell. But, I'd been skipping our mastermind call for weeks, so I made myself suck it up and nervously clicked the link and joined in. I was quiet for most of the call as usual. Then someone had a question. That question that caught my attention and I wanted to jump in, but instead I waited to see how Kasim and the other members would answer it. Then, I had a question. And nobody else was asking it. So I clicked the microphone button to unmute myself and nervously I spoke up.

Thank you for sharing this! I have felt this on REPEAT before, especially in spaces where I was invited without paying. I don't want to take up space or maybe I think I don't understand the goal of the call… sometimes listening is my first step in participating 😎
"STAY IN YOUR LANE" — But Which Lane Are We Even Talking About?
The "stay in your lane" advice is being weaponized to keep entrepreneurs small, and it's time to call it out. But, there's a HUGE difference between strategic focus and being stuck. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎯 YES to Strategic Focus: When you're starting out or rebuilding, you absolutely need to focus on: - ONE hero avatar - ONE transformation journey - ONE signature framework Why? Because scattered business = scattered life. You need focused energy to build those first 10 case studies and develop deep expertise. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🚨 NO to Staying Small: I'm seeing "stay in your lane" used to shame people for: ❌ Learning new skills ❌ Adding connected services ❌ Evolving their approach ❌ Growing beyond their 2019 niche This isn't about focus. It's about keeping you contained. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💡 Here's What Changed Everything For Me: I used to offer logos, then web design, then marketing, then business design, and now software + community + fractional PM services. Sounds scattered, right? But here's the key: I wasn't pivoting. I was going deeper. My lane was NEVER "web design" or "branding" or "marketing." My lane has always been: helping entrepreneurs love their businesses and use them to transform their lives. Each expansion was just a deeper understanding of what that transformation actually required. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎓 The BLUEprint Principle: Define yourself by the TRANSFORMATION you create, not the services you sell. When you position by services → every new offering looks like a pivot When you position by transformation → every new offering is just refining HOW you support that journey ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✨ The Bottom Line: You get to define your lane. As long as you're focused on creating ONE core transformation for ONE group of people, your lane can be as wide as it needs to be. Strategic focus ≠ staying stuck Depth ≠ never learning anything new Cohesive business ≠ doing the exact same thing forever Just don't let anyone else tell you where the lines are. 💙

I always find when entrepreneurs/business owners share what their version of 'messy' looks like it's helpful because it gives me perspective. What can look like 'messy' to others for my biz - b2c: offer high-ticket 1:1 "productivity" coaching for 6 months - B2B: 1:1 Coaching for an executive that needs support in personal and professional organization and leadership development - B2B: Change management workshops - B2B: Workforce development training on executive functioning and neurodiversity awareness While these can all seem scattered services when they are seen like that, we focus on: education around how executive functioning skills work—what helps them and what doesn't—to transform our world of work. Move from reactive to proactive.
The Real Reason Staying Focused Feels So Hard
For a long time, I told myself I just needed to be more disciplined. More structure, more focus, more “stick-with-it-ness.” But looking back, that wasn’t the real problem. I was busy, contributing, helping build great things ~ but not always the things that were fully "me." And when the work in front of you isn’t pulling from your real strengths, focus can slip. A lot of entrepreneurs know this feeling. You blame yourself for chasing new ideas or struggling to stay consistent. It feels like a discipline issue, or shiny-object syndrome. But often, the struggle isn’t discipline ~ it’s alignment. And alignment isn’t just about you and what you want personally. It’s also about what the business needs from you right now… and the kind of experience you’re creating for the people you serve. Sometimes the work in front of you isn’t what you love most, but it’s what’s required in the moment. That doesn’t mean you have to do it forever ~ but it does mean you need to decide whether to own it, systemize it, or get it off your plate. (More on this here!) Here are a few questions I ask myself when I feel scattered: - Of all the problems I could solve, which one do I actually care about most? - What does the business actually need from me right now (and do I need to own it, or create a process to get it off my plate)? - Which strengths do I actually want to lean into more? - Does this choice move me closer to the kind of life and business I want ~ and does it create a better experience for the people I serve? When those answers line up, discipline isn’t something you force. Focus becomes a byproduct of alignment. I know for me, the times I’ve felt most scattered weren’t really about discipline at all. It was more about clarity… or even alignment. How about you ~ what do you think is usually at the root when staying focused feels tough? Would love to hear how others here handle it ~ I think we could all benefit from the different perspectives!

@Larissa Miralles oh so mannnyy. AND it can be specific to the person as well. A few top-of-mind: 1) identifying that you are mis-aligned is the REAL first step and asking 'what is mis-aligned?' is it my energy to the task? Is it the task itself isn't connected back to my why? 2) Energy mapping: knowing how your energy ebbs and flows from hour-to-hour and day-to-day can be transformative. If you know by Thursday you are beat, then lower energy tasks can be bookmarked for that day instead of intensive client meetings for example. 3) playing- what does play/fun look like and incorporating that into your day. Many of us get into the hustle and grind and don't let our creativty shine for fun... so making space for small opportunities to start helps ease stress and supports your executive functioning The biggest thing to know is that your executive functioning skills are connected to the emotional part of your brain. If you are overwhelmed, stressed, or lack sleep your EF skills are the first to go. They also need to be exercised. Practicing these skills is part of the process.
