Some Days It Worked...
One of the most frustrating experiences for singers is inconsistency. Some days the voice feels open, easy and free. And the next day, it suddenly feels difficult again. That was one of the biggest challenges Anatol faced during parts of his training. What makes this especially difficult psychologically is that singers often interpret inconsistency as failure. But very often, inconsistency is actually part of the learning process itself. The body is reorganizing. Old patterns are disappearing. New coordinations are still unstable. And during this phase, singers can temporarily feel: better one day, worse the next, more open, more blocked, more free, more effortful. This is completely normal in real vocal development. In Year 2 of the Classical Singing Masterclass, we worked intensely on helping Anatol build more consistency and reliability in his coordination. And one of the most important lessons singers can learn is this: Progress is rarely linear. Very often, the voice develops in waves. 🎓 Inside the Classical Singing Masterclass, you can follow Anatol's complete transformation journey step by step — and apply the same principles to transform your own voice. Sounds like me!
Neck tention
Here are two videos of me doing the lip trill breathing exercise. You can clearly see the tension in my neck muscles and how my neck vein pops out. My question is: what should I do about this and how can I avoid it? I’m sure it’s not supposed to look like that.

The Hidden Cause Of Vocal Struggle-Muscular Dysphonia
Muscular dysphonia..... Many singers think they simply “have a difficult voice.” But very often, the real issue is excessive muscular tension. Musclular Dysphonia (Muscle Tension Dysphonia) can affect: - freedom - resonance - high notes - vocal stamina - flexibility - and even speaking voice quality - And the difficult part is: many singers don’t even realize how much unnecessary tension they are carrying while singing. I’ve just uploaded Lecture 1 of a new PRO series about Muscle Tension Dysphonia inside: 🧬 PRO / VOICE PROBLEMS & HEALTH Inside PRO, you’ll also find a detailed self-assessment test that helps you recognize common signs and tension patterns in your own voice. Over the next weeks, I’ll continue releasing an entire lecture series about this topic: - causes - symptoms - vocal behavior - compensation patterns - recovery strategies - and practical exercises Because understanding tension is often the first step toward vocal freedom. 🎤 Lecture 1 and the self-assessment are now inside PRO / VOICE PROBLEMS & HEALTH.

Liptrill
In the video, I’m trying to perform a liptrill. It’s not exactly a great attempt—today just wasn’t my day. It’s also a bit awkward because I have to sit, hold my phone in my hands, and play a virtual piano on my laptop. That also restricts me, and after a while my arm starts to hurt and my shoulder and neck get tense. I also asked two questions in the video: one about the passaggio, and the other about how to perform a liptrill. If nothing else, I hope I’m a useful guinea pig.

@Eva Lindqvist Then I was mistaken about the passaggio. I'll try to follow your instructions as best I can. Yes, I know I'm two semitones above high C. Those have usually been my highest notes — D or D#, sometimes E. But like you said, I was squeezing too much.

That is what I intendet because I noticed I have an problem while liptrilling: When I do liptrills, my neck vein almost constantly tenses up or pops out. I only recently noticed this. I've tried all sorts of ways to relax my neck, but I rarely succeed. Every now and then I get lucky, though I'm not exactly sure what I did differently. I’d say it’s a result of that frequent feeling of tension in my neck and below the larynx whenever I try to control my breathoutflow I feel a too big subglottal pressure. I’ll record a video tomorrow so you can see what it looks like.

So many of you have been reaching out to me. With questions, challenges, very different situations. And I realized something: There is not just one topic. There are layers. Your voice is not just technique. It is your system. Your body. Your mind. Your identity as an artist. And you need a space where all of this can come together. So I decided to take a step forward. I created a PRO area where you can be in direct contact with me and ask your individual, professional questions. But PRO is more than access. You step into a complete training world. A space where everything is structured, connected, and designed to actually move you forward. That’s why PRO is built around six focused training spaces: 🎤 FIX YOUR VOICE Clear, direct, practical. We fix what doesn’t work. 🧠 MASTER YOUR SYSTEM Understand how your voice actually functions in your body and under pressure. 🎭 BECOME THE ARTIST Where technique turns into expression, identity, and real artistic presence. 🎧 REAL VOICE JOURNEYS Real stories, real struggles, real transformations. Nothing polished. 🧬 VOICE PROBLEMS & HEALTH Learn how to understand, protect, and stabilize your voice long term. 🔬 VOICE & SCIENCE TALKS Where science, medicine, and real expertise finally make things clear. This is not random content. This is a structured path. This is where things start to connect. Technique. Mind. Body. Artistry. Not as separate ideas. But as one system. And once that system works together… your voice changes. Not by forcing it. But by understanding it. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start progressing step by step… PRO is your next level. - Eva 🌊
