@Lukas Schmidt I am pretty confident speaking live and in front of any live audience. I am not nervous on zoom even. It is something about recording a VSL type video by myself that I avoid. It may be that I have allowed this avoidant feeling too much authority and it has grown to this annoyance. Now that I have said it out loud, it doesnโ€™t sound rational.

@Lukas Schmidt Yes I believe I would. I would feel like I am simply talking to that other person about something I am passionate about. ๐Ÿ˜Š
What would your dream school look like?
Last week, I experienced something that redefined education for me. I was already familiar with Learnlife, but seeing how they operate blew my mind. There are no grades and no teachers, only learners and guides. However, the learners have complete autonomy over what and how they learn. The guides are only there to support them. Here is how they learned about the US elections. They just did them. In a single morning, they: - Set up roles, formed an election committee, and established campaign rules. - Registered voters, prepared ballots, and conducted a full-scale election. - Counted votes and declared a winner. Think about that. Before lunchtime, a group of teenagers replicated a democratic process that usually takes months. And they did it with more humility and respect than most real-world candidates. I left the Inspire event with one clear thought: I wish I could have gone to a school like this. What about you? What would your dream school look likeโ€”a place that inspires you to learn every single day?

I love hearing about this, Lukas! It is a very nice model for students to have autonomy over their learning track. I taught my sons at home until they were 7 years old (and really after that because parents are always 'homeschooling' if you ask me). But our curriculum was 80% reading and 20% math concepts, with them choosing their areas of interest for reading. For example one of my sons is into sports and nature, the other loves geography and architecture. These interests emerged at a very young age and remain for them in their 20s. I've always been a proponent of allowing students to choose their lessons based upon their interests. As a former social sciences teacher, we had some fun with mock elections but we never got the classroom arcade worked into the curriculum! This is fantastic! My dream school looks like this one - with project-based learning that is driven by student interests. Thank you for sharing!
