Lil' Updates: Skool Perks, Coffee Hour Q&A, & NOLA Recs
Howdy Everyone! A few updates this week: 1. Being part of Slik Skool, I'm giving every active user on here an Advanced Reader Copy of my book, How To Read A Wine Label (I know the Slik Skool was split between 1 and 2, but 1 has a wider appeal, so we're going with that!). If you're reading this and want one, write a comment down below so I know you're interested. 2. Due to popular demand, I put another Q&A session in the calendar. This time, I put in a Coffee Hour Q&A instead of a Happy Hour one for the 20th! I put a poll down below to see if you like the idea of a coffee Q&A or want to only do Happy Hours. I'm such a morning person that I love this idea but want to see how you guys feel. 3. @Kimberly Kaplan asked for some New Orleans recommendations after I went a month ago, so thanks for your patience on this, but here's a list I've gathered from my chef friend. I'd also add Pluck to the list of wine bars to check out. You won't find a lot of the classic spots because the chef friend used to live there, so he likes going a bit more off the beaten path. Classics I'd recommend are Commander's Palace, Galatoire's, or Antoine's if you've never been to NOLA.

I haven't been able to make it to a Q&A yet, but I love the concept and the idea of mixing it up between the two times! And so exciting on the book! ๐Ÿ‘ Sounds awesome, and so helpful! I would love an ARC if they're still available!
Slik Skool Might Be My Favorite Thing
I love hanging out with y'all for happy hour and getting to know you all a bit more. Thanks to everyone who joined today (even if it was only for a minute, @Tammy Matlock ;) ) I'm doing a "wine personality quiz" on the website a la Seventeen Magazine, so I made this visual to go with it. You guys get first dibs to laugh with me. And, why not, you guys can take it early if you want. Here's the preview link: https://quiz.tryinteract.com/#/preview/67bfcc068ad67300152642a1 (it'll ask for your email before your results but you can just give a fake one lol) <3 Marie

Late to the party, but @Michael Monte is "Club Chablis" still accepting members? ๐Ÿคž I'm with you too - I usually have a Willamette pinot in my glass, but not mad with the Chablis identity! ๐Ÿ˜„ Btw, @Marie Cheslik love this idea! SO good ๐Ÿ™‚
Recommendations for French Wine Regions & Wineries to Visit this Summer
Hi friends! My dad is riding in an amateur Tour de France in July (same route, a week before the pros ride - insane but so cool right?! ๐Ÿ˜€), and Iโ€™m planning on tagging along for part of the race and visiting some of the wine regions heโ€™ll be riding through (or near) along the way (ie, Loire Valley, Jura, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Rhรดne Valley, Languedoc-Rousillon are on the tentative list right now). Itโ€™ll likely be a whirlwind with only 1-2 days in each region, so would love any winery or wine tour group recommendations, to make the list of it! Or if anyone has been to more than one of these regions, and preferred one/some over others, Iโ€™ll take that too as I feel like I may need to narrow down based on the time Iโ€™ll have ๐Ÿ˜… TIA! ๐Ÿ™

@Marie Cheslik LOL! They're a little beanpole-y, but steel nonetheless! ๐Ÿ˜„ Thank you so much for the tips and recommendations - super helpful in narrowing things down! I really appreciate it!
Happy New Year!
Last night I had an Almond Champagne from California. I never heard of this before. It was very good actually. It had a smooth taste and not very bubbly. Has anyone had this before? Or heard of it?

@Tammy Matlock Banshee out of Sonoma has great bubbles! I'd also recommend Argyle in Dundee, OR, so California adjacent?? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿ˜‚
Hello from Morocco
Hi everyone, I've been quiet lately, sorry, I've been very busy at work. I am on a very much deserved vacation to Morocco at the moment. Our second leg of our trip, we are going to South Africa for an organized trip which will include a safari and a visits to a couple of vineyards (of course ๐Ÿ˜). Meanwhile in Casablanca, our taxi driver took us to a nice liquor store with an impressive selection of wines. We bought these 2 half bottles of local Moroccan wine. We will taste and give you our opinion later. Have a great day. Caroline

@Caroline Blanchard I was just in Morocco in December, and also had no idea it was a wine producing region so was pleasantly surprised as well! I would agree, red wines > white wines, but overall not bad! Are you going to have an opportunity to go to Meknes? Apparently it's the Bordeaux of Morocco, which you may have already heard! Curious if you've tried gris wine yet? We were intrigued so tried a few but not a fan. We had a hard time reading labels so ended up with the cheapest ones (which may have been the issue :-)), but a lot of them were oxidized tasting and sweet, almost syrupy. We had the Chateau Roslane rogue, which was a little on the pricey side but very good! Highly recommend! We also went to a winery outside of Essaouira - interesting experience but worth a visit if you're in the area! Let me know if you're headed that way and I'll give you the deets! Hope you're having the best time! :-)

Long-time wine enthusiast, looking to turn pro! My gateway wine was Moscato, but more of a Willamette Pinot Noir and New Zealand Sauvy B lady now!
