MESSAGE GLOW UP - a week of making communicating what you do RIVETING!
Be honest... as you circulate with other professional women, how often does a message UVP (what I do) stop you short, look up and think, Wow!? I'm guessing that's because you've heard them all before and they're often lukewarm and vague. Who can afford to have a vague message? Know anybody? Me neither! So what is it going to take to make your introduction absolutely RIVETING,??? That's my challenge to you this week! Riveting or go home. Now, there are a few ways you inject instant energy and glow up - think - it's not what you say, it's the way you say it. With conviction, authority, excitement, fun, intrigue, emotion, passion, whatever will transform what sounds really boring to something people want to connect with immediately for? Then there are superlatives! I never hesitate to say my 'beautiful platform', amazing visionaries, 'on a mission' etc... to add spice. The attached is a classic way of constructing a simple intro and quite honestly, some people don't even have this clarity!!!!! Say 'No More' to limp intros and meh messaging. And if you want to test me on yours and want some pepper instead of vanilla, drop yours below!! Challenge on!

@Jenni Parker Brown Do you mean I should look to replace the word "help"? If so, yes, I can play with that and come up with something less tired... I'm also still playing with the terminology in my single-sentence statement about what I do. The word "agility" is coming up for me a lot as I work through this process - what do you think about the following options: - The Strategic Agility Method - The Agility Advantage - The Agility Reset And how does this land: Strategic Agility is performing at your highest level — without strain — because nothing unnecessary is weighing you down.

Or, an even cleaner and more "agile" description would be...: "Strategic Agility is high-level performance without strain." I'm resistant to building a "program" because that feels very prescriptive and less bespoke. But I like the idea of empowering clients to build a discipline of agility by removing everything that's currently creating drag in their lives! "Strategic Agility is a disciplined way of designing your life so excellence remains light."

Recalibrating
Hi everyone - I'm recalibrating in a big way right now. It's something I've been promising myself for a long time but this is really decision time. I've spent years, decades even, accomodating other people and trying to fit in with what they want, including in my business as a vocal coach. Today I sent an email to a prospective client to say that I couldn't provide my services to her at the price she was asking as my prices need to reflect the level of work and support I'm offering. I felt bad as I knew the story behind why she had left singing, and why she was coming back, and I REALLY want to support her. But unless I start being less accommodating I won't be able to support myself. Can anyone else relate? I'm also reviewing how I present myself everywhere, and being honest about the type of client I have been attracting (bargain-hunters) as vs the type of client I want to attract (women who view their voice as an asset to invest in). I love Jenni's article about the monochrome palette and will be incorporating that into my branding, as well as looking at the language I use. Looking forward to continuing this journey in the FRC community.

That's a powerful shift, Carol! I applaud your courage in taking action in spite of the voice of fear. 💥
A WEEK OF VISIBILITY... or not...
What if visibility is not a strategic thing at all, but a way of BEING? This blog was the beginning of my deep dive into what visibility really means, why and how we all evade it. I think you'll really enjoy this: https://brandrunway.co/2024/02/02/the-highly-visible-fempreneur/ And to conclude... many of our incredible ladies have not introduced themselves here as encouraged. Curious that, as everyone's chasing it. Two days ago, one of our fab ladies referred to me as 'The Visibility Queen', which is also curious as I never refer myself as that. But it does demonstrate what we were talking about in the HVC circle - it's your NARRATIVE that leads your reputation - what you talk about the most (at least publicly). So after reading the blog, ... in what ways are you NOT BEING VISIBLE? And what do you think people say about you? What narrative is out there leading your reputation?

What unsettles me most right now isn’t these visibility platforms themselves, but the emptiness that seems to be growing around them. I notice how easily performance starts to replace presence, how often sounding impressive matters more than being useful, and how quickly we’re encouraged to keep producing even when there is very little left that feels genuinely new or alive. There's a concept from philosopher Jean Baudrillard called "simulacrum" that seems apt here. He used the story of people living on a map to explain what happens when pictures and descriptions start to matter more than real life. At first, the map is just a guide to help people understand the land they inhabit. Over time, though, people trust the map so much that they stop paying attention to what is actually around them in real life. Eventually, they organise their lives by the map instead of by their own experience, and the map *becomes* their reality. The real world is still there, but it fades into the background because no one is really looking at it anymore. I feel that social media works in a similar way today, when posts, images, and performances begin to feel more real and important than the lives they are supposed to reflect. We’re surrounded by posts that resemble insight, images that resemble people, and conversations that resemble connection, but often without much substance underneath. The "system" we find ourselves functioning within rewards replication over deep reflection, and highly-polished personas over genuine presence. The result is a landscape full of echoes, where it becomes harder and harder to locate something that feels grounded in lived experience. Because of that, I find myself wanting a quieter way of being here. I don't want to disappear exactly, and I'm not retreating in disillusionment, but I find myself craving a different pace and tone. I don’t want to speak simply because the algorithm expects me to. I want to speak when there’s something that has actually been thought through, lived with, and earned.
VISIBILITY TO DO LIST DONE FOR YOU!
I love this checklist...sometimes when you are not inspired to go and do the usual visibility stuff, you can do something that will serve you better! This checklist is to help you inspire your monthly weekly and quarterly goals!
