Harvest and process
These are a short n sweet variety of carrots. I will definitely be direct sowing them in the future. I really need a mortar and pestle for making pesto....it's a bit chuck. 😂😂

Pesto looks delicious. I like it over pasta. 😋

@Carla Giddeons thank you for sharing this information. A few years ago, I’ve switched over to chickpea pasta. I’ll have to try this.

@Dennis Wichter I have farmland in Tennessee and I let the native plants live in its glory and even the dandelions get to live. I have a whole lot of chamomile and mullein growing too! Last year I hired someone to bush hog and he wanted to spray around the trees but I wouldn’t let him. I also discovered that I have about an acre of elderberries growing wild on a steep hillside. I thought it was Pokeweed at first and was going to hire someone to bush hog it all down. Even in the rural areas alot of people grass seed and mow short to get rid of native’s but I don’t want a manicured lawn in the country. In the spring, I let to grow tall except for right around the perimeter around house. The bees, butterflies and birds love it! In the summer and fall it gets mowed more frequently. Near the back of house there is a steep grade forest area and along the outside perimeter there is a lot of blackberry and raspberry growing wild. I thought of clearing out so that you can see more of trees but I decided to let nature be as it is!

Garden fountain
@Julie Vigil posted about putting water out for the pollinators and it reminded me of the fountain I never got up and running for my wife. Still need to hide the wires and put a cover on the reservoir, but it's running.

I’m an earth fairy and alchemist. I love native gardening and especially pollinators for breeding butterflies 🦋 also love growing herbs 🪴

@Dennis Wichter yes, without pollinators there would be no food
Heating a greenhouse
Not sure if this is real or not but looks like a great idea to keep a greenhouse or even the soil warm. What do y'all think?

@Dennis Wichter I am not sure if fire wood stove may heat up enough for freezing weather? In photo it looks like clay pots are being used for heat distribution.
