I've had quite a bit going on the past 2 weeks. My biggest obstacle, besides my head getting in the way, is time management. It's not so much the management part as it is figuring out what things I can cut out of my schedule because there is way too much on my plate to do by myself. In my personal life and business life. And it's really holding me back. But, on the semi-bright side, I did get a lead this week. I wasn't as prepared for it as I would have liked to be, but I look at it as a great learning experience. I know now how to be more prepared...if I can just find the time to do it! đ

How do I stop...
How do I stop my head from preventing me to take that first step towards trying to get clients? :( I feel like I know how to do bookkeeping now. I love numbers, I used to be a backup bookkeeper for about a year way back when you actually USED books, and I got the QBO certification so I understand that reasonably well. But I am at a complete standstill. Every time I get a plan on how to go find clients, I freeze. What if they ask me how long I have been doing this for? What if they ask to see my resume? What if they ask me something and I sound stupid because I am unsure of the answer? I don't want someone to get mad and think I had no right to be offering bookkeeping services if I don't know what I'm doing. I'm planning on this being my last career change and I am so excited about it, but if I can't get started making some money, I will have to figure out something else and I don't want to do that. đ˘

@From Zero To Remote Bookkeeper Thank you so much! I just need to get my first client, then I know I will be OK. It's the fear of getting through that first one because my brain is definitely telling me don't put yourself out there. đ I will definitely look into Upworks. I have no problem offering a special rate for my first few clients, just to get the experience of it all. And I forget, I'm not locked in forever with any particular clients. I am big on niching, and my niche is pet businesses, but I can start on Upworks and look for anyone that seems like they may be a good fit, even if it's not pet related to start. And your comment about confidence is so true. And it really reminded me of my past career...when I first got my real estate license. I was so afraid to approach people to let them know I was an agent. Because I was brand new. But the timing for getting my license was perfect because my husband and I were in the market to buy a house. So as soon as I started showing my husband houses, my confidence went way up, and I swear, confidence is like a magnet. I met a couple by chance and was talking about my buyer (my husband but I didn't say that) and before I knew it, they wanted me to show them some houses. Then my husband and I put an offer on our house and as stressful as that is....I figured it's just me and my husband if I mess up...won't be that bad! Then 2 weeks later my first official real buyers put an offer in on a house. As scared as I was, I was 2 weeks ahead with my own home buying process so I was able to confidently explain everything that was going to happen, what to prepare for, what to watch out for...it was like I had been doing it for years. It was the best feeling. And I was able to get both houses closed 2 weeks apart. And every other client after that I would tell stories about my 'last buyer' or 'I had a buyer that was worried about that' or whatever story fit but that last buyer was my very first buyer or the very next buyer after that.
