Keyword planner
a few days ago, I watched a video with Austin and Jacob that said (I'm paraphrasing, correct me if I'm wrong) that if you are in an area that has 2500 searches per month you should be able to get enough leads to make the business work. I have been using Google Keyword Planner and I have selected a huge territory and I am only coming up with 1100 searches and I am using quite a few keywords in the planner. 1. Can anybody direct me back to that video? Maybe I missed something. 2. Any suggestions for me to try to determine search volume in my area? 3. Is Aheefs or Semrush better than Google?

Insurance NAICS codes
Here are the two NAICS codes I am giving insurance companies to get quotes. These should cover forestry mulching, land clearing and land leveling minor grade work. They do not cover digging deep holes. 238910. And 115310. If anyone is using a different code than these, please post it so I can check to see if I should add that code.

Love facebook ads
I’ve ran Facebook ads for 10+ years in real estate and now running ads for forestry mulching I’m glad to see something’s don’t change. The comments are always the best. This guy left a non kid friendly comment on my ad and I had to laugh at it.

He's mad cause you're clearing land? What's he upset about?
Insurance question
UPDATE TO ADD: I found the best independent agent who insures all over the US, so if you need a referral let me know! $140,000 in equipment covered and GL 1M/2M for $1900/yr!! I am getting quoted close to $7500 a year for inland marine and general liability insurance. That doesn’t even include commercial auto. Can anyone let me know what I’m doing wrong and why it’s costing so much to be covered? I want to add, ERGO Next is not an inland marine insurance provider. They do not cover up to $140,000 worth of equipment. So that’s not an option for me. Maybe for general liability but how can I get a reasonable inland marine quote?

Wow, that's high. I'm just learning myself and haven't gotten to the point of getting insurance quotes. I know that is most industries there are small number of insurance companies that are more familiar with that industry and usually offer better rates. You would think there should be someone like that for this business too. For all the "How to start" videos there would be a video that compares insurance companies.

I just asked Gemini and this is what it returned. For a forestry mulching and land clearing business, finding the right **Inland Marine insurance** (often called a **Contractors’ Equipment Floater**) is critical. Because your machinery operates in rugged, high-risk environments and moves from job site to job site, standard commercial property insurance won’t cover it. You need a carrier with a specific appetite for heavy forestry equipment, which carries unique risks like brush fires, rollovers, and high-stress mechanical breakdown. Several major commercial insurance carriers and specialized managing general agents (MGAs) write Inland Marine policies specifically tailored for forestry, logging, and land clearing operations. ## Top Carriers & Programs for Forestry Equipment ### 1. Arrowhead General Insurance Agency (Forestry Program) Arrowhead runs a dedicated, decades-old Forestry Program backed by **Zurich American Insurance Company** (rated A+ by A.M. Best). * **The Fit:** They specifically list **land clearing** and chipping operations in their target market. * **Coverage Highlights:** Their Inland Marine program offers high in-house underwriting authority, includes earthquake and flood coverage, and provides automatic 30-day coverage for newly purchased equipment—which is a massive plus if you swap out or upgrade attachments frequently. ### 2. Victor Insurance Managers (Forest & Logging Program) Victor is a massive specialist underwriting manager that offers a dedicated Forest & Logging program backed by **Everest Re**. * **The Fit:** They cover land clearing, logging, chipping, and log road construction. * **Coverage Highlights:** They write comprehensive Inland Marine supplemental coverages alongside General Liability and Commercial Auto, creating a unified package so there are no gaps between your truck, your trailer, and your mulcher. ### 3. The Hartford The Hartford is an industry leader in Inland Marine and has a massive appetite for midsize to large specialty contractors.
CDL Advice
Since my vehicle is 11,200 lbs and considering the weight of some of this equipment, I'm considering getting a CDL. I plan on taking a 4 day course in MO for the hands on portion and road test. Does anybody have an advice on a good a source to study for the learners permit? I haven't started YouTube research yet because the algorithm will start force feeding me trucker stuff. In 2 days it'll start showing the top 10 Lot Lizard hacks that no one wants you to know about.

@Jerad Wilcox thanks. I just googled it and yes they do. Here is a PDF for anyone else that may need it in the future.

@Martin Wilches thanks for the suggestion. I just downloaded one. It never crossed my mind that there would be an app like that.
