Check in 12-12 (late!)
Hit my goal with a basic arm workout, and short run after dark. Protein was hit, but also with a lot of carbs so I’m counting today as a “miss.” Water was met. I also spent another night journaling some ideas and goals I have going forward in the next weeks, months and year. This will be revisited in the coming weeks to ensure I have achievable goals, as well as goals that will need a lot of background work to be realistically obtainable.

@Philip Folsom will do! I like to look back at what my plans were initially, versus what I actually had to do to try to make them happen.
12-13 Check-in!
Met with friends and co-workers today to ‘celebrate’ my transfer. Managed to hit my protein goal with some smart choices, but surely am dehydrated from other liquids besides water. 🫣 I did manage to get a workout in this morning, and danced for waaay too long before calling it a night! 🥵 Leadership was put aside a bit tonight for regrouping my sanity through positive/social interactions with my “pack” that was long overdue.❤️

12/11 Check in
Got back into my little gym again today and got in an hour workout before I headed into work. Missed my water goal today, but met my protein once I got home from work. (I know! Late meals before bed are no good!) Spent some time tonight journaling the past seven months of issues that are mostly over as of today. Felt really good to get those thoughts and feelings into paper.

@Philip Folsom Yeah, I’m an open book, just so that it may help others! I work for a large Sheriff’s Office here in the Az, and back in May there was a release from custody that was not handled “right,” due to an involuntary mental health evaluation request from the inmate’s family, that was not filled out correctly by our civilian staff. So to hold this guy in custody, would have been a 4th Amendment violation as well as a state law violation because the paperwork wasn’t correct. Obviously getting this guy evaluated was important as well. There was no right answer. So I took the path of legality, and released him. This turned into an internal investigation against me with a proposed sixteen hour suspension for failure to meet standards. The paperwork issue was not my fault, just my problem now. For seven months, this investigation not only affected me at work, but at home as well as. The suspension would have killed my career in the water. If it was upheld, I’d not be allowed to teach, I’d not be allowed to promote, and any “specialized” assignments would have to be thoroughly reviewed before my placement; and the way it usually works is that you are instead just passed over for consideration. Long story short, I fought hard to prove my decision and point of view to powerful people who do not understand everything that was/is considered daily at that assignment, and came out on Thursday with a simple administrative written reprimand. I still don’t agree with it, but it closes the investigation, and doesn’t mean a whole lot professionally. I will also be transferred away from the assignment it occurred at for professional liability reasons (another occurrence could mean permanent dismissal from duty). I love my job, and strive to do right by everyone, so this hit me hard in so many places. As the senior sergeant, it was my decision and mine alone. Because of the investigation, I lost the ability to be placed in decision making positions, or fill the role of the lieutenant in their absence. This hit me emotionally as my identity had been stripped away overnight that I’d formed over nineteen years of service, despite being the one with the most experience at the division on my shift.
12-10 Check in
I have a lot weighing on me today. I skipped my usual workout, and chose to walk around the neighborhood to try to clear my head a bit. Met my protein and water goals easily today (probably through stress snacking! 😅). For leadership I did some mentoring for some recruits assigned at my division, and shared some work I’d prepared for the recruits to work on for practice with my peers at other divisions for their assigned recruits. I’m in my final weeks at my current assignment, so a lot of picking up pieces and trying to leave it better than I found it as hard as that seems currently.
