This was a quick little portrait I did today (10” x 10” in 30ish minutes.) I usually paint most things with palette knives so my brush work could probably improve a lot…. Open to any critiques though.

I got into a nice groove and did all 3 of these today…. i think I figured some things out. References were snapshots of my niece and nephew and one was an old film photo of my sister as a kid. Sort of strange lighting but I just did my best with them.

I paint landscapes for the most part and occasional dog portraits. (I’d like to practice portraits of people too though!) Here a fairly recent dog portrait that is one of my favorites so far.
