Free plugin for Premium Members 🎁
I have a free plugin to give away for all Premium Members today! The plugin is BASSROOM by Mastering the Mix (usually $79). This is a really unique and fun plugin for EQing your low end - it sounds great too. "When your low-end is muddy or weak, your entire mix suffers. BASSROOM shows you exactly how to shape it, for low-end that hits hard, sounds clear, and translates across every system." Moving forward, we're going to try and get a free plugin every month for you guys as a perk for being a Premium Member. (If you're not a Premium Member yet, you can upgrade here to instantly unlock the free coupon code. The cost for a month of membership is a lot less than what the plugin would cost you to buy.) ➡️ Claim your plugin code by entering your registered email address on this page: https://support.mastering.com/codes This will be the email address you signed up with on our website or here in Skool, depending on how you became a paid member. You will only be able to claim the plugin code if you're an actively paying member. If you have any trouble, please contact [email protected] or leave a comment below. 🚨 BUT that's not all... We also have a new 30% discount for all Premium members at Naturl Audio, the makers of the popular new AL-1 limiter. This discount can be access at the same page as above. Simply enter your email, and you'll also be able to request your unique discount code. Enjoy! Rob

Sharing my mix for this week's (9/2026) Fix the Mix Challenge. I'd appreciate any feedback! For those who did not attend, the composition is by one of our mentors, @Luke Despain . https://drive.google.com/file/d/1koIgzz1aX4zRLLcBeuN7qYXPE7hSgfKm/view?usp=drive_link

That was great! Very clean sound and nice spacing on all the elements. The only thing I noticed was the panning of the horns. The initial low full blasting horn you had panned to the right with nothing feeling like it was balanced with on the opposite side. The next set of horns were nice in the center but then we had another set of horns on right only. Other than that small thing it was nice Great job!

@Carolyn Rodea that’s a great concept!
FTM 09-26 - My Mix
As usual in the spirit of sharing and learning, I'm posting my submission here as well - any comments suggestions welcome :) Submitted last night, but did a few minor tweaks this morning as well and updated it. Still not sure if it is a little too much low end in the first part, and I'm not totally happy with the impacts in the third section ... Within the time constraints, and the fact I'm not used to orchestral mixing, I'm fairly happy with the results :)

Fix-The-Mix Orchestral Edition
Not long ago, I posted on our YouTube channel asking what people wanted to see from Mastering.com The most liked comment? "Orchestral mixing mastering" And it's finally happening. Next week, we're hosting a special edition of our famous "Fix-The-Mix" Challenge, focusing on music with orchestration. We're partnering with Orchestral Tools to bring you three days of live mixing, where Kevin "Black Pearl" McCloskey will be mixing a track with orchestral components from start to finish. We'll also breakdown the composition itself at the start of day one (composed by our very own Luke Despain). RSVP for free here (starts Sep 15th): https://courses.mastering.com/events/e/fix-the-mix-sep-2026?utm_source=Skool See you there, Rob

FTM missed dead line but finished the mix!
Missed the submission window by like 15 min but happy to finally get something done close to the time! First time doing anything with orchestra so happy to even get this far. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1myXh0K8lrSEVLc9u88hXum1rjxRlHWqA/view?usp=drivesdk Feed back is appreciated

Thanks for listening! Looking at you 2c I think I went a little too hard with the limiter at the end, and I think it washed it out more than I intended. I struggled with the low end in general for this track I felt a bit out of my element doing orchestral work. And pianos are starting to become a nemesis of mine as I haven’t grasped how to shape them well so they always feel unruly.
