I have a question. When was the last time you did something that made you feel like a kid again? Not young. Not immature. Just ridiculously ALIVE. The kind of thing where you forget what time it is. You laugh so hard you snort. You get so caught up in what you're doing that you forget to check your phone. Remember THAT? Somewhere along the way, adulthood became a long list of responsibilities with occasional breaks for laundry. Who signed us up for this arrangement? 😂 I'm not suggesting we abandon our responsibilities. Although disappearing to a tropical island has crossed my mind. I'm suggesting we remember that FUN is part of living, not something we earn after all the work is done. So... What would you LOVE to do purely because it makes you feel ridiculously alive? Let's hear it!

I've been thinking about how quickly we jump to conclusions. Someone doesn't return your call. "They're mad at me." Someone gives you a funny look. "What did I do?" Someone doesn't invite you somewhere. "Well, apparently I'm not important." Good grief. We can write an entire soap opera with absolutely no information. And naturally, we cast ourselves as the wounded star. 😂 Here's the kicker. Most of the time, people are so busy dealing with their own shit, they aren't even thinking about us. Imagine that! So today, before you create another award-winning drama in your head, ask yourself: Do I actually KNOW this is true, or am I making up a story? What's one assumption you've made that turned out to be completely wrong? Come on. We've all got one.

Can I tell you something that drives me a little nuts? We've somehow confused being busy with being important. Seriously. We wear exhaustion like it's a freaking Olympic medal. "I'm SO busy." "Oh, you think YOU'RE busy?" And suddenly we're competing in the Busy Olympics. Congratulations. Everybody loses. 😂 Here's a thought. What if having absolutely NOTHING on your calendar for an afternoon was a sign of success? What if you could sit outside, enjoy a cup of coffee, and not feel compelled to accomplish a damn thing? Oh, the scandal! I'm all for creating a life without limits. But that includes having time to actually LIVE the life you're creating. So here's my question: What's one thing you could take OFF your calendar this week that would give you a little more life back? And please don't tell me you're too busy to answer. 😂

We're ending this week with a highly sophisticated personal-development exercise. Ready? BRAG. 😂 Seriously. I want shameless bragging. Not... "Well, it wasn't really anything..." Nope. Start over. Not... "Anyone could've done it..." Don't care. YOU did. We have no problem creating a detailed inventory of everything we screwed up. Let's become equally talented at noticing what we're doing RIGHT. So... What's something you've done lately that you're ridiculously, unapologetically, EFFING proud of? Big. Small. Weird. Wonderful. Bring it. We'll celebrate the hell out of you. Carpe the damn Diem. 💙

Can I ask you an uncomfortable question? Are you waiting to be invited? To sit at the table. Speak. Lead. Travel. Start something. Join something. Create something. Be seen. Because here's something I've learned... Sometimes the invitation isn't coming. Well, shit. So what? Build your own damn table. Throw your own party. Make your own invitation. And put your name at the top. You are the authority on you. Where in your life have you been waiting for somebody else to choose you? Maybe today's the day you choose yourself.
