New (To Me) Gear Day!
Over the 2024-25 school year I helped co-manage the local school districts social media (an absolute headache) and was paid okay-ish. Figured this would be the only time I could justify purchasing a 400mm f2.8, plus it’ll pay for itself after 20 or so games… After 3 weeks of FedEx sucking, the EF 400mm f2.8l IS II has arrived! Excited to starting using a true professional lens for field sports!

Thinking about switching to canon someone help
I have a Sony a7iv and when I first got it I thought I was only doing videos but ended up doing pictures too. Now people pay me more for pictures than they do for a video. I love the color of Canon and how the pictures turn out and I still wanna do videos, but I just don’t know if it’s worth switching to Canon or not. I like the pictures I take on my camera but compared to these other people with cannon, it’s no competition that theirs looks better. Any recommendations on what I should do?

From a Canon shooter, the Canon R6 MkII would be a good choice. An amazing hybrid camera and can even use older EF lenses flawlessly (and save some $ on glass). The Canon R5 takes solid photos, but I’m unsure if it’s video performance as their is also an R5C

Should try incorporating an edge light? I know there’s the background ambient, but it could help separating you from the background just a tad bit more

Working part time and wrapping up school in the fall. Using the summer to acquire clients, making/planning spec projects, and building my brand. I feel like I’m wasting my time at work (even if it’s part time), especially when getting into a workflow either editing or something else. Worst part is I only get hours on the weekends, which makes it hard when I get last minute messages to shoot a game or session. I would like to be able to support myself through photography (dabbling in graphic design and videography here and there), and have my own office or studio space. Lighting equipment is such a pain to set up and tear down all the time haha.
