We are just into Q4 and this year I have doubled my profit from where I was last year at this time while spending almost NO time behind the camera. There was one key difference that made that possible. Most videographers think they fly across the country every week, to film, edit, and post for clients in order to get paid a flat rate. That is considered a "win" (and was considered a win for me for almost two years) So you hunt for the biggest brands or influencers, hope they pay you $5k/mo (which most wont) and then try to stack as many of them as possible. Before you know it, you're on planes and living out of hotels more then you're in your own bed and when you finally do come home you're burnt out and your bank account barely moved. I was in that spot for two years. Until I realized I this one thing I needed LEVERAGE over the clients I worked with. Not more gigs, not better editing, not more outreach, not even charging more Leverage I needed to OWN the process that I was playing a small role in as the videographer. Because I hate to be the one to tell you, but every client that pays you for content is making way more off of it then what you're getting paid, but you're the one moving the ship forward. Without your creative brain, that ship doesn't sail. You need to be the one to own that system. That is exactly what I did. Now I am able to partner with clients on a base + % model, almost NEVER touch my camera and make more $$ from anywhere in the world. Simply because I stopped playing the game everyone else plays.
