Welcome Teachers and Ed Support staff!
🌱 Welcome to Teacher Career Talk | SKOOL Community! I’m so glad you’re here!!! This space has been created for pre-service teachers, graduate teachers, educators and ed support staff who want real support as they move through applications, interviews, and career decisions — without judgment, pressure, or comparison. To help us get to know each other, I’d love for you to introduce yourself 👇 Tell us: - Your name (or a moniker, up to you!) - Where you’re at right now (PST, graduate, classroom teacher, ES, returning to teaching, leadership curious, etc.) - What your big focus or aspiration for 2026 is? And if you feel comfortable sharing:👉 What’s one thing you’d love support with this year? This is a confidential, supportive space - honest conversations, practical advice, and community. I’ll be sharing: - Application and KSC guidance - Interview preparation support - Real examples and behind-the-scenes insight from panels - Space to ask questions you don’t feel comfortable asking at uni or school I can’t wait to support you in this next chapter 🤍 — Cathie

Hi, my name is Kathryn. I'm a teacher leader in my school and an aspiring middle leader. This year I'm in a LaST role.

@Cathie Bristowe Yes applying for a rel. AP position at the moment. Any guidance would be much appreciated
Woops!
So sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you all! The past little while has been incredibly busy, but I’ve been thinking a lot about this space and how I want to support you moving forward. One of the things I really want you to know is this: By being part of this SKOOL community, I'll be sharing insights, resources and guidance here that I won’t be sharing on social media. This is your space. A quieter space. A more supportive space. A place where we can really prepare properly. With holidays upon us, this is actually one of the best times of the year to quietly prepare yourself for: • Future job opportunities • Stronger applications • Confident interviews So today, I want to give you one simple but powerful thing you can start doing. Start building your STAR stories. I've got for you here a really basic downloadable reflection guide to help you start thinking about your experiences in key areas schools commonly ask about: 1. Curriculum Knowledge 2. Interpersonal Relationships & Teamwork 3. Planning, Differentiation & Data Use 4. Professional Learning 5. Student Wellbeing & Behaviour Support If you spend just 10 minutes a day reflecting and jotting down ideas, you’ll slowly build a bank of powerful stories ready to use when jobs open. And trust me… When applications open and everyone else is rushing…You'll already be prepared. Download the reflection guide here! I'm really excited to be supporting you all here — and I can't wait to keep sharing more with you in this space. Cathie x

Hi, thank you for this resource, it has been very helpful. Do you have any tips on how to condense the STAR to fit the NSW guidelines? We often have 2 A4 pages for 4 criteria and have a margin size of 2.5cm.

@Cathie Bristowe More help would be great. I have decided to apply for a relieving AP position and am a bit overwhelmed!
