Help with creativity in my mix
Hey, guys. I have a huge favor to ask, but it would really help me out a lot. I keep trying to automate the effect during a breakdown in a song where there's kind of like an EQ + slight reverb effect that makes the mix sound distant and then slowly return to normal. Chris Brown's song "Forever" starting at about 3:30 is the sound I'm going for. I keep trying to do it but can't quite nail it. If someone could make a video using OBS Studio to show me what to do, I would really appreciate it. Either that or even if someone would type out step by step instructions, that would be great, too. I know I have the tools to get it done. I'm just not advanced enough to do it.

Hey Rick, what you are referring to is called a filter sweep, extremely common transition in music, if you go on YouTube and look up filter sweep for your DAW it will walk you through how to achieve the sound.

Is it me or are there a lot more bots in this group than there used to be? An overwhelming amount I would say, almost making it hard to differentiate between real folks w concerns and questions and click bait. 😔

How To Make Vocals Fit?
If I record my vocals on a microphone but the rest of my instruments are midi. How do I make my vocals sound like it's a part of the song and not recorded in my bedroom? There's a distinct difference in the sound. That makes my vocals stick out instead of sit in the mix.

Hey Phillip! I would break this down into 3 stages to help find your culprit. 1. Recording Set up- Do you have a set up that is conducive to clean vocals? Ex. Is your space treated? Do you have a vocal booth? have you thought about DIY-ing one (unused closet space etc). What kind of mic do u have? 2. Editing- If you already have all of these I would move on to good cleanup tools like a good de-noiser, de-reverb etc. fix timing, pitch. 3. Vocal Mixing- Next I would move on to your vocal mixing flow are you making your vocals as consistent as possible? (Gain automation). These are some of the things that can prevent your vocals from sitting nicely in the mix

New Song Release
Hi everyone ! I’ve been away for a bit learning and chipping away. I joined this community last year and found the coolest group of people that I’ve had the pleasure of collabing with. Some I even get to call friends now 🥹, I’m thankful for mastering’s YT videos, fix the mixes and the wonderful people I met here. I got to a point where I did enough learning and now its time for tire to meet the road. I just released this single called SOUVENIR, first of many this year. There’s deff things I wanted to keep tweaking but I’m learning how to just finish and let it go. I’m certain every release will get better and better.
