Help with creativity in my mix

Hey, guys. I have a huge favor to ask, but it would really help me out a lot. I keep trying to automate the effect during a breakdown in a song where there's kind of like an EQ + slight reverb effect that makes the mix sound distant and then slowly return to normal. Chris Brown's song "Forever" starting at about 3:30 is the sound I'm going for. I keep trying to do it but can't quite nail it.

If someone could make a video using OBS Studio to show me what to do, I would really appreciate it. Either that or even if someone would type out step by step instructions, that would be great, too. I know I have the tools to get it done. I'm just not advanced enough to do it.
