Hi everyone, my name is Kat and I am from Perth, Western Australia. I have been dabbling in family history for a while now, but over the last 6 months I've really knuckled down and put real work into ensuring the accuracy of the legacy I hope to leave behind for future generations. My heritage is English, Irish and Scottish predominantly, and I am currently researching my maternal grandfather's line which has quite deep Australian early settler roots hailing from England, Ireland and Scotland. Luckily only one was a convict I believe. Most of them had either military backgrounds or were police. My recent focus has been tying up loose ends in closer generations and over the ANZAC weekend I found myself exploring how many of my family were impacted by the wars. Quite a few members killed in action, and many others coming home essentially with shell shock or bad injuries.
